Default Texas Guys: Harris Hill Road Vid

Harris Hill Road is about 10 miles south of Buda off I35.

It is a newly constructed road course for those that don't know about it already. They are going to be offering memberships starting now for an opening in the new year.

I went out there with 3 other friends for a couple of private laps of the track. Got about 15 or so in. The pavement is new so we weren't full out but you can get a good idea of the track.

My bud uploaded this vid. 99FRC heads/cam/LT's/Z06 brakes.....

Enjoy, Z

That looks like a fun track although a little more elevation change would have been nice. Hopefully the management will be opening it up to groups for HPDE and general lapping days. A little far for me to go, but we have 2 new tracks opening up in the east this year also.

not much elevation change in that part of the country

Glad to see more tracks being built in Texas.
I wish they'd build one out this way.

Glad it's here. Memberships look not too bad, though per day prices are more than I would have expected.

Buda???? I've only have been in the DFW area for a few years, sounds like it's maybe south of me??

With all the issues I have with Texas, I can't believe that I fell into the best area in the country to have so many tracks withing an easy drive of the house. TMS (15min), MSR (45min), Eagles Canyon (45min), TWS (less than 4 hours), two more in the Houston area that I haven't made yet and one other just east of Dallas in the planning stages.

Keep'em come'in

It's a little south, yes. Buda is down 35 from Austin. Still not a bad drive. I too feel lucky to be around here as the tracks are a-coming.

All these tracks and good year round weather to boot!

Don't forget a couple of other fun events (that I want to try), Texas Standing Mile in Goliad and the Big Bend Open Road Race in Ft. Stockton.

So it's closer to your neighborhood: thumbs: Keep an ear out for an upcoming track day this spring and I see about gathering up a few Vette's from this area to come down and play with you, John D and the rest

I'm always looking for new challenges.

Yeah, too bad track time is still *** expensive...

I was thinking that the Harris Hill Road membership wasn't that bad, but then I realized that you still have to pay per session...

HUMMMMM.....$900+90mo. (+$1500 refundable deposit) for a membership, Very CHEAP!! compared to MSR @ $3200+$90mo and E.C. at $3250+$190mo. Track time at H2R $200 weekdays and $300 Fri-Sun kinda steep, MSR $20 per session, E.C. $150 per day.

Best buy in town is "The Drivers Edge" @ $275 (solo drivers) per 2 day weekend with 4 sessions each day and at least event every month

What we do....aint CHEAP!!!!!

That's me point. Thus, if TDE or another organization does events at HH, I'd be inspired to go. But a membership? Not in the plan at this time.

The Austin paper just had a big article on the Driveway track down here too. 1.7 miles long, with a LONG straight. Bill Dolahite is doing it, and it's 20 minutes from my home. No clue as to fees as yet though.

Yup, that's why I'm continuing with TDE.

How long is a $20 session at MSR, just outta curiosity?

Yeah, I'm interested in Driveway Austin too. Post up when you find any info.

Driveway Austin is CRAP.

That dude has been claiming to have been building a track for 10 years. Don't hold your breath.

Harris Hill is VERY reasonable compared to other private tracks. I am getting a membership when it completely opens no questions.

And for whoever said that there was no elevation change... haha.... you haven't driven the track. Great elevation changes throughout.

For those who asked abut the drivers edge going out to HH, the answer is no. This will be private to paying members.

I for one am glad not to have to deal with the asshats that show up for HPDE days sometimes.

You have to realize that when you pay $300 for the whole day on a weekend that is for like 10-11 hours. You cannot get that amount of track time at ANY HPDE. Plus you do what you want when you want.

New session every 30 min., rotates from stock cars - open wheel - bikes- ect. Very cost effective if you have good friends with memberships.

$300 for 10 hours of track time aint bad...... providing your body and equipment can handle it. After two hard driving hours in one day I'm thinking about my AARP discount at the closest Hydrotherapy clinic

Wow. Perhaps I owe you an apology. Not meaning to offend.
Having never built a track myself, I don't know how long the deal takes to set up. I do know that building anything in Austin is pretty hard, so if it does go live, it'll be nice to have when it gets here.

If you are paying $300 for a "green at breakfast, checkered at nightfall" sort of day, that's very fun. Mostly, I've seen and done that at test and tune days, and at TWS that price is comparable. Except you have to have a membership to do that at HH, but there are more such days there. So you are paying a bit more, but for the convenience it might be worth it for ya.

Not for me, I think. $90/month, $900 one-time fee, a security deposit. Then $300 for eight hours of weekend sessions (from the HH site). If I were testing a racecar, and needed extended track time sessions, this would totally rock. I wish I was, but for now, $300/weekend with no memberships sounds pretty good. The other big advantage of HH is that you can go on a weekday, so again, if I was testing or setting up full time, it would be a deal.
