I'm shopping for new tires for my C5. Stock rims 17-18.

In searching I found several recommendations for the following sizes: 255-45x17 front and 285-40x18 rear. I didn't see the 18's listed for Kumho V710s.
what is the recommended sizes for those tires?
Tirerack lists a 285/30/18 or 245/35/18., and a 275/40/17.

What is the max recommended size for stock rims? I don't want to push the size thing too far, just what is considered appropriate.

100% HPDE.
Very little AutoX any more. Timing just wasn't right this year.

Ted, are you going to make it for the Florida thing this year?

the tire rack has listing of tires and rim sizes I would say =10 is ok on most tires. 295 rear and 285 front depending on what each manufacturer has available. Also HPDE street legal or Hoosier DOT slick?

You can squeeze 275s on the fronts and 295s on the rear. The Hoosier285/30/18s are actually wider but the height is too short for aroad course, IMHO. In Autox you could go with the 285s but you'll have to turn the computer off when you drive.

The 275s on the fronts are pinched and the sidewalls are tall so the turn-in is not that great. If you can find a 265 for the fronts in the brand you want then that might be better on the 8.5 rims.

No Florida event this year but I'm thinking about the ProSolo in April in Arkansas. It's close to Memphis, TN this year in Newport, AR.

Oh, wait a minute. You're talking about the 50th event. It's not looking good but we'll see.

According to the Kumho web site these sizes (V710) will fit my rims. Still not sure what is practical and not have any fitment issues. I've always ran OEM sizes in the past. I'm sure the 315 is way too wide for my instance. Maybe I'm looking at the wrong tire for me.
