What's the remaining competition lifespan of the C5 Z06?
With the performance of the C6's at the SCCA runoffs, how much longer can we expect the C5 Z06 cars to be competitive in racing? How long before they're relegated to great HPDE and TT cars?
I've been looking long and hard at whether to continue working with my car or jump into one of the many T1 Z06's coming onto the market these days. These cars are becoming fantastic bargains; under $30K for well developed versions with lots of victories. However, am I going to get more than one or two years out of them before they're not competitive?
Many of these cars make their way over to NASA and become ST1/2 cars, and this is where I'd run one. I'd expect them to last a few more years before they're obsolete in NASA, but I'm not so sure...

As far as SCCA goes, 97-04 models are good in T1 till 2014 but I can't tell you how competitive they will be.
We have to wait to see how bad they restrict the new 08 LS3 motor. I think that will be the car to beat when they get the bugs worked out on oiling.
Jerry Onks just won the Sebring National in his C5. They are still good cars as long as they are set up right and you can drive the snot out of them.
Can't tell you about NASA rules but I would guess they will be able to run for a long time there too.
Good luck.
