Am I Wasting ATE BLUE ????
Before each track day I bleed my brakes when I check the pads and make sure all brake bolts are tight.
I pump the rears 10 times and the fronts 13 times. I don't measure how much fluid I am replacing.....but I refill the reservouir after each wheel as it drops about 1/2 inch. The fluid always looks clear and blue.
Stock calipers.
Thanks,
DH

I never feel like I'm wasting brake fluid so long as (1) I have confidence in the brakes, and (2) they stop the car. I buy Motul RBF600 by the case... if I was using SRF I'd probably watch how much fluid I used more closely...
If you were trying to pinch pennies you probably needn't bleed out that much if the fluid coming out looks clear and good and has no air bubbles.

^ haha... I don't do it nearly as often as some on here. Some say do a full brake flush before heach HPDE and bleed between each session, but I've never ever had to do that.

Not trying to pinch pennies.
So 10-13 pumps seems like more than alot of you guys are doing.
How much of the fluid really gets cooked ...... just whats in the caliper and hose near the wheel.....right???

Melting Slicks
I am a 5-6 pump per front wheel guy myself. The rears rarely overheat and most of the time do not require much bleeding; if I bleed them 4-5 pumps. The only fluid that gets cooked is in the caliper; Motul 600 has a marked discoloration when overheated.

haha, granted think of how much oil you have in your vette.. odds are its more than enough to do 1/2 the season and not worry about it..
as for the brakes.. well you dont really use the much anyway.. right?

My Vette's brakes were always flawless in their ability to stop the car deep into the brake markers... I'd always bleed the system before a track weekend, and it always worked, because that was the only thing I could count on working properly with my c5. About 6 pumps per wheel is all you need.

I'm sure there are a bunch of places. I'm still going through my Motul from before the price increase.
