How much does a 17x11 CCW Classic weigh?
Looking at other wheel options for upgrading to 17's, I found a 17x11 made by Vintage Wheel Works for $350/wheel but they weigh 26 lb/wheel. I'm wondering what the weight hit would be compared to the cost saving over a set of Classics.
Right now I use 16x11's that are about 16 lb/wheel. My interrim step to upgrading to 17's is to look at trying some 25x12-16 Hoosier bias slicks.
Thanks

There are some C5 T1 size CCW's for sale in the race parts thread above. That's what I bought, and they are pretty light. I think I weighed one, but I don't have the numbers happy. If you remind me after this weekend, I can weigh one with a Hoosier R6 on it for you.

I know the 18x12 CCW Classic is 21.6 lbs. So a 17x11 would be lighter than that. Costs a lot more though...
What may be a better option, if you're on a budget, are ZR-1 replicas. You can get a full set of 17x11 wheels in chrome or black w/ silver lip, weighing 27 lb a piece, for under $500 shipped (for 4!!)

There was a dyno thread with heavy and light wheels a long time ago that I read. Gaining ten pounds per each rear wheel in weight showed a loss of IIRC 10 HP on the dyno.
My stock wheels were 25 pounds, I started using the C5 thin spokes at 18 pounds, and could tell the car felt faster.

Right now the best option appears to be the 25x12's on my current wheels. As long as they don't crack any fiberglass in the front.

Perhaps good used 17" CCW's from other GMs (early F-Bodies?)
might turn up in a search?
Does the car have stock or offset trailing arms? What kind of back
spacing can be tolerated?

Old thread link above. I could feel the difference in acceleration with different wheels.
"I'm wondering what the weight hit would be compared to the cost saving over a set of Classics. Right now I use 16x11's that are about 16 lb/wheel."
16.5 lbs difference for each wheel/tire.. extra weight on the rear hubs robbed 12 rwhp and 9 rwtq.
I'm using light wheels, I hate adding weight.

Backspacing needs to be 4.5F and 4R, I've got alot of flare to fill up in the back; no offset trailing arms. F bodies have considerable more backspace I believe.

hmm, yea, my Replica's weigh something like 26lbs each. Honestly, another 24lbs (say 30 to be sure) all around, really is not that bad. I bought almost 3 sets of replicas for what a single set of used CCW's cost.

I found another 17x11 wheel made by Team III wheels that a rep claims weighs 20lb. They have that old school Mini Lite look to them. Price is $335/wheel.
Here's a 25x12-16 Hoosier mounted on my 16x11, side by side with a 275 A6 on the same wheel. Should be a little more rubber on the ground, and much lighter than a 17x11 with a 315 A6.
