NCCC AutoX Day 1, Brooksville FL
I won all 7 of my 7 events in Group 1.
Battled back-and-forth all day with a modified Group 2 car (C4).
Got overall FTD.
Probably going to concede times for tomorrow, but will easily win Group 1. I'm SO TEMPTED to put on my good Hoosiers, but cooler minds must prevail. I don't run NCCC very often and I'm in a VERY tight points battle for 2nd place in Super Stock at my home track. It just doesn't make sense to abuse my good tires.
MANY MANY thanks to greendot for selling me his scrub Hoosier A6's. The rears are still great. I'm at the nylon cords on the front left (fronts were free, cuz they were gone. I was tight all day). Regardless, the minimal investment in his tires got me the win. 14 runs today. Only going to run 7 tomorrow (forfeit 7), so the nylon cords in the center of the tire should not be an issue. I don't think I'll see the metal braids in 7 runs.
Thanks bud!

It would have been nice to know that yesterday. I could have been home last night.

I'm getting closer and closer to FTD in Buckingham. It's time for me to spread my wings and play with the big boys.
You want to co-drive my car?
Joan and Steve are running my car again next weekend.

Your getting better Sir. But lets talk about how you are doing after Dixie.
It's fun getting better, and crushing those that used to beat you, but you have to search out better competition to keep getting better.
That would be fun----if you let me run your car. I wasn't thinking of going this Saturday, but if you were to let me take a couple of fun runs in your car using my extra tokens----that would be way cool---if not no worries.
What size tires are you running ?
Your car presents some interesting questions------slightly wider than a C5Z06.....more grunt in 1st gear, but maybe less below like 45mph (in second).....not enough front tire in relation to the rear in stock class.
I think you could address a lot of these issues in ASP....in SS not so sure.
You are getting much better and having fun. Keep it up.
But you ain't getting no FTD at least not yet ! (smiley)

On Sunday I'll be running 295's in the front and likely 325's in the back, but I do have 345's available for the rear if I want them.
I like my car loose. 295's got me my first win.
Oh, BTW, in 2009, I will get FTD. That's my goal. I'll spend whatever $$$ to make it happen.

I think 325 makes more sense off the top of my head.
Your stock 12" wheel probably fits perfectly, and more importantly the 345 might be too much of a difference when considering your front 295 on a 9.5" wheel.
Now with your offer--I WANT to go SATURDAY !

BTW, the 295's look like they belong on the front rims.
I ran this weekend with 295/345 and you can barely tell that the tires are not stock size.
You better show up and run my car. I think I can beat you in my car and convert you to the fact that a C6Z CAN compete in SS in 2009 at Nationals.
Nobody's running them yet cuz they're too expensive to run so far.

Chris caugh......caugh.....Ramey.
Craig, I think you are wrong about this-----they certainly are not more expensive than the GT3. And they are getting cheaper every moment.
2nd gear middle not as strong as C5 Z06---slightly wider than C5Z06, and heavier----1st gear tricky to modulate------
------------------------
I would love for you to prove me wrong. Maybe that puppy needs to undergo a ASP prep.
----------------------
Hey, when do you shift to 2nd on the practice course, and do you leave it in second the rest of the way ?

C6 Z's not requiring the 2-3 shift is a big advantage. (91 MPH in 2nd is priceless) It has more than enough torque to pull it out of the slow turns in 2nd.

I've done that course in 1st only, but I hit the rev limiter too often. Too much torque.

Spend some time with the rulebook then, bro.
Nope. His name was Joe. Can't remember his last name. It was a dark purple C4 with stickers all over it. He's got some pretty good suspension work done and some minor engine work. He's from North Florida.
I backed out of today's competition. Got called for having a corded tire. I could have easily put my brand new Hoosiers on and truly cleaned up, but those tires are too expensive and too important for my remaining 2 points event down here in Fort Myers. So I packed up, got my $$$ back, and drove home early.
It would have been nice to know that yesterday. I could have been home last night.

I was more referring to your comment that you didn't want to abuse your good tires, not that you corded a used set. I was just wondering if you were running a jacked up alignment if you were eating through tires at a quick pace...the vette is the easiest on tires of any car I've autocrossed yet.
