Default Due to some class rules, Delrin steering rack bushing

Well I was informed that some classes in the SCCA require that bushings can't be Metal. So I made up some using the best Delrin I could find. They look the exact same as our Alumium ones, but are a little lighter.

The best part, the price is the same 37.95

How does Delrin compare to Poly? I am thinking about replacing all the bushings in my A-arms and doing some research. I know all about Poly, but are not familiar with Delrin (as a bushing).

My A arms bushings are aluminum and delrin. Less deflection and no noise compared to poly. My steering rack is poly, but that was my only choice 10 years ago.

I actually had that shift **** on my C5. How is the durability? I took my shift **** off a couple times while doing work on my C5 and the second time, I just about stripped it putting it back on. It did not seem extremely durable for use as part of something with constant motion. Which of the two will last longer?

I heard also that Delrin does make noise, but is that not necessarily the case? My poly on my C5 made plently of noise.

Delrin when it comes to moving suspension has the potential of making a ton of noise. Without proper lube they will drive you right out of the car. My old ice racer had two large delrin bushings, that I couldn't keep enough lube in because of the conditions. All I would hear at 8200 rpm, 20 some pounds of boost, anti lag popping, open exhaust and all I could hear was those damn bushings.

But when either properly lubed and/or a bushing that doesn't move around (steering rack), Delrin can be a great option. When it comes to control arms, Mono-ball style suspensions rule.

Delrin durability as a bushing/bearing is supurb. My A arm bushings are 10 years old and still good as new. They come with grooves and a greae fitting. No noise either. My poly steeer bush doesnt make noise, but there isnt the same motion as A arms.

I think the SCCA factored that in when they classed the car. I heard ASP and maybe SS run these rules.

Choices create dilemmas.

If you had your choice of delrin or aluminum, which would you go with and why?

Thanks

I understand that choices create dilemmas. Aluminum if you don't have any rules to live by. If you are in a class where the aluminium is outlawed, then the Delrin becomes a easy choice.
