Default Track Rims? Best bang for buck?

I'm trying to find a set of track rims for my 2000 C5. The rims will be for track use only and can be basic black steel wheels but must clear Z51 rotors up front.

Anyone have any sugestions? Where would one find basic black steel wheels for a C5? Looks do not matter at all; however, the lighter and stronger the better.

C5Z speedlines. You can get a set for under $500.

Did a quick search on the net, cannot find a home page for Speedline. Where would you buy them from?

They are the OEM wheel maker. You can find the rims in the C5 Parts for sale section. Another thing you can do is go with OEM or aftermarket C4 ZR1 style wheels with the Grand Sport offsets. 17x9.5 in the front and 17x11 in the rear or 17x11 all the way around.

Nobody makes steel wheels in the appropriate sizes and offsets.

Only mildly on-topic...

I'm planning on using four of the OE 17x9.5's to get 275 on all four corners
of my GTO (275 up front is considered heroic ). Things I don't know
are:

How heavy are these wheels?

Every website I go to which sells 17x9.5 Corvette wheels recommends
a 245mm tire. But a 245 on a 9.5" wheel will be all stretched. What's up with
that?

Thanks.

The most common track wheels are CCWs.

Ahhh, Speedline are the OEMs, now I get it. I have Z51 brakes, the 17 inch Speedline wheels will not fit the front of the car.

The CCWs I have are my daily driver wheels.

If you can find two sets of rears you can run them all the way around. For that matter, for MOST cost-effective you can run wagon wheel rears all the way around.

I have my old take offs so all I would need would be another set of rears, but aren't the rear off sets different than the fronts?

I run black A molds (Think Grand Sport) wheels all the way around. The 17s will fit all the way around and clear Z51. I get mine from TomzWheelz, http://www.tomzwheels.com/ a Forum supporting vendor. I get 4 wheels for around $400. You can run 17X9.5 front and 17X11 rears without issue. Going 17 inch tires are cheaper and performance is not compromised. You can run up to a 295 on front and a 315 in back.

Here is a link to the wheels http://tomzwheels.com/catalog/index.php/cPath/23_38_42

How much of an issue would using the rear rims on the front be?

Not a problem. Many guys use 18" all around. or even a same set up on all fours.

The only problem is believing the post in the OTHER sections.

I also use four of the rear wheels. The silver C5 thin spokes in 18x9.5" can be had for a minimum of cost. I paid $80 for my last two.

Well, I just put the Z51 rotor in the 17 inch wheel and there is only an inch of clearance between the outside edge of the rotor and the inside edge of the rim. Some how I think the caliper will rub, are you sure that the caliper will add less than an inch?

I have 17x 9.5" Z06 Speedlines on the front of my 02 C5 coupe with 13" Baer Eradispeed 2-piece rotors and everything clears. There in not a lot of room, but the wheel clears the caliper.
