Is 1500 mi too soon for VIR with new motor?
My new 402 is in and working. There is one track day left at the end of Nov at VIR. My motor will have about 1300 to 1500 miles by then. Is that too soon to try it out? Motor seems to be fine so far with no issues. Thoughts?

I took my car to Miller Motorsport Park for three continuous days of HPDE/TT starting with 50 miles on the new engine and the Stage 2 ARE oil system. Always made sure oil was up to temp and didn't squeeze out every bit of HP available.
Engine now has ~1500 track miles and ~2000 street miles and is working perfectly.

I changed the oil after the 90 min startup and again at 500 mi. I would just like to get some track time in before the winter. Not much going on after Dec 6th. Hopefully some time on the dyno will tell a lot. What little I have pushed it, it feels pretty strong. Definitely different from the supercharger. I am starting to get excited about putting it on the track. Hopefully I can just drive now and not worry about fixing things all the time. It is just too much work to make supercharger work for 30 min track sessions.

I decided to play it safe and put 100 miles on my car before I drove the hell out of it. My break in vid.. short track - lots of rpm range

The question actually is...
Drag race tune? Or safe tune?
And then...
Have you been WOT a few times? Or nancy'd around the boulevard?
You don't got anything to worry at this point. If it had blown, it would have a while ago. But it's tune dependent.

I will be getting a dyno tune in about 300 more miles and he knows I road race the car. So anyway, I am signed up for VIR Dec 1.
Thanks.
Thanks.

when I brought my C4, it was a garage queen. barely any miles on it.
previous owner did maybe 1000 miles per year. 18000 miles on the car.
the car was burning oil, way too much oil.
very unsual for a low mileage car.
I started tracking the car, really using the motor hard. 290-300 oil temps. running to red line every shift.
10000 track miles later, car doesn't burn oil any more.
The rings must have seated from "PROPER" usage.
I don't run it so hard any more, but I wouldn't be afraid of using a motor.

1500 will be fine, I've put 2 new motors right onto the track, about 150 miles on my forged turbo motor, and about 300-350 on my NA 427 before it hit the road courses. With teh 427 I was actually smart and had to 'convince' a buddy to drive my car up there for me to break it in, and I trailer up his h/c 346 car. I get a call 3/4's of the way up on a 250 mile trip and he's saying OMG this thing is absolutely nuts.....I said I remember to tell you to keep it under 5 grand right?
He said um, nope....
Well it passed its tests with flying colors
