Default Aftermarket Radiator install on a C6

Hey guys,

Could you tell me what all is involved with installing a bigger radiator on a C6? Ron Davis, LG, DeWitts, any of those.

The shop manual suggests having to disconnect and recharge the A/C . Is that required?

How long would you guess for someone fairly good with the wrenches but doing the radiator removal/install for the first time?

it is simple just pull off the ac condesor it is easy to reattach once you get the old radiator out, no need to drain the ac system

c6 R&r is fairly easy

I agree, really easy. The only reason you'd touch the AC is if you knocked a hole in the condenser.

I love my Ron Davis radiator, that thing is a work of art, and in the phoenix summer I never go above 200deg water temps (and that high only in stop and go traffic).

otherwise pretty straight forward

Awesome, thanks guys! I was worried I would need something special for my oil and tranny cooler fittings, but looks like I am good to go!

Don't hold your breath, this is scheduled for March 09, assuming the stupid car doesn't overheat in 10 minutes flat in cold weather like it does in hot weather...

Installing a radiator into either the c5 or c6 is pretty easy. You don't need to remove any of the of the AC. It's a little easier to do with it out of the way. But adds time and $$$ to R and R the juice. I could do a install with a 10mm on a extension, adjustable wrench and a pillers. The C6 you will need a pick for the stupid quick disconnects. It is really easy really. A buddy to help with picking up the other side of the radiator is very helpfull. But that buddy may drink all the beer.

Let me know if you run into any trouble.

Randy
