V8stockcar series adds v8 gt-2 class for vettes, vipers etc.
The V8 StockCar Road Racing Series announced today the addition of a new class for 2009. V8 GT-2 will give cars such as the SCCA B Prepared Corvette's, Vipers etc., the Grand Am Series Koni Challenge GS cars, SCCA ST and T1, Panoz GTS, Panoz GTWC, Panoz GTRA a competitive points championship class to contest in 2009. Others such as SCCA ITO, and some SCCA GT2 may be eligible upon review.
The performance benchmark for the class will be the SCCA B Prepared cars.
The formation of V8 GT-2 will eliminate the need for the Panoz GT class for 2009 as they are incorporated into V8 GT-2.
The V8 StockCar Road Racing Series is a "no fee," competitive points championship series that races with SCCA in the southeast at some of North America's most historic, challenging, marquis tracks such as Daytona, Sebring, VIR, Road Atlanta, Roebling Road, Palm Beach International, Homestead and others. There is a ten race weekend schedule for 2009 culminating with the American Road Race of Champions presented by GrassRoots Motorports Magazine in November.
In 2008 more than 100 competitors garnered points in the series. Just a few of the talented, well known racers that have competed include Dave Machavern, the 2003 Grand Am Series GTS champion, Jeff Emery, former Trans Am and ASA/Delco series competitor, Larry Hoopaugh, 3 time NASCAR Dash series champion, Scott Lagasse Jr, NASCAR Nationwide driver, Bill Smith, SCCA SE Division star, former ARCA star, Bob Schacht and more.
The V8 StockCar series has excellent marketing partners including, SCCA, Mo's Gold, RacingJunk.com, Grassroots Motorsports Magazine, Howe Racing, Goodyear, Hoosier, DASH Racewear, FiveStar, RaceCar Engineering, TracTek Race Fuel, DRP, and Racing Limo's.
