OEM steering wheel quick disconnect
Do any forum vendors make a quick release adapter to go between the OEM wheel with airbag deactivated and the steering column?

ATI sells a very nice kit. The UPS guy just dropped one off. Is it just me or did their already good packaging just get better. Thanks Mike@ATI for the race parts that can win shows too.

Their kit is top notch. Looks great with the CF backing plate.
But I don't think it'll work with the OEM steering wheel (and why would you keep it out of curiosity??)

The ati adapter is momo/sparco ready but does not fit the factory wheel. The factory wheel is just fine and does not cost an extra 250 bucks. I just need the QR function because my interior is getting tight with roll cage, custom race seat etc.. I need the removable wheel just to easily get in and out of the car. I can just barely get in and out with the column tilt feature. The sides of my seat at the thigh are 8" tall on the Custom ultrashield seats.

Their site says modification of the column cover required. Anyone know what that entails?
How difficult is this install? I guess more importantly, how difficult is it to remove the OEM wheel and airbag. I'd hate for the airbag to go off when taking the wheel off

I can't answer either of those as to install, as I personally didn't install it. However, ATI should be able to answer your question if you call them. As for installation, there are some tutorials online for removing the stock wheel and reinstalling it.
But to the OP, your not going to find a quick release for a stock wheel unless you fab one up, which then would cost significantly more than a nice momo/sparco, which would summarily defeat your cost argument. Everything is a compromise, only to what degree. Further, the quick release kits are a few hundred, so what's another couple of hundred? Heck, there are probably plenty of used race steering wheels online at a few sites.
