What a huge difference in the quality. I paused both of the first two videos at :20 and looked at the stills of the big rock. It's pretty clear which is better, pun intended.

btw, it still doesn't look very good. I've uploaded SD mp4's of my son's church choir that look better............I don't know if they are overcompressing, or just using poor source material, but I'm not impressed thus far!

Here is some HD 720p video I shot yestday at VIR. Nothing fancy, but you are right that if the source is good, the video can look really nice on Youtube

Pardon the chit chat, just playing with the camera
Thanks BRIAN for showing us how to do this.
****Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be taking this camera INSIDE of my track car. I bought a Sanyo HD Camera, and it seems pretty "fragile". My Sanyo SD camera seems much more stout, but I did buy a bargain HD camera

I'm guessing the HD videos will be mucho larger than the regular videos, and will take substantially longer to upload. For a 20 to 25 minute race it takes forever to upload in the lower quality, so I can imagine how long it will take to put them up.

That is certainly true Jody, but Youtube already limits clips to 10 minutes, so you wouldn't post full races there anyway.
But bandwidth and storage will get faster/cheaper, so it's nice to see what the future has to offer.

Yea, I agree, it's nice to see the quality available. I've been using Vimeo in the past when I need better quality.
I post right at 100mb of race stuff all the time on Google. That'll usually get about 20 - 25 minutes worth since I upload .wmv format. It makes for terrible quality, but many don't care, they're just watching for the action. If the files are 100 mb or larger, it makes Google hic cup pretty badly.

I thought they had a time limit......I know they now have a 1GB space limit, but I'll test it later.
waddisme.....had no mount this trip, and you were cooking! I couldn't even get my front tires warm enough to stick, and drove very little. Just came to instruct a few friends and get a little more test time on the PFC brake setup. HOWEVER, some of the worse passing etiqutte I've ever seen at an event, but that's what happens when you mix advanced and intermediate students and throw "open passing" at them!

It did get pretty crowded at times out there. I am not sure about the format. You would spend a lot of time following people, but in the end, there was so much track time it didn't bother me because I knew I had a lot more track time.

This company seems to make some good inexpensive HD camcorders that I have been eyeing in the under $200 range and they seem to be better then the Aiptek offerings in the same price range. I definitely like the camcorder configuration better.
