LG GT2 wheel update. (including track fitment)
Hi guys,
we announced the new LG GT2 wheel that will be coming out soon. The molds are in the process, and they will now be a "Spin Cast" process.
Our wheels have 7 split spokes like our BBS ALMS wheels. And the spokes also have a drop in every other spoke.
Our wheels are also being built using a Spin-cast method, which is about 1.5 times stronger in the spun area, which is about 75% of the wheel. Spin cast wheels fall between a full Forged and Pressure cast in strength and lightness.
We will also have 18" rear wheels made for the guys going to the track for Track Tires. So either stock 18 front 19 rear or optional 18" rear for the track guys.
ALso keep in mind that they were designed to fit Brembo 15" brakes in the front, so all Big Brake kits should fit. Even the Z06 brakes on the C6 brake conversion.
C6 Z wheels will be 18 x 10 front and 19 x 12.5 rear. That way you can still use your factory tires.
C6 sizes will be 18 x 9 front and 19 x 10.5 -- again, to allow use of stock tires if you wish, or larger since they are wider by 1/2".
Still looking at delivery in the first month or two of 09 but most likely it will be end of Feb or first of March.
Painted wheels should be in the $2395 per set price range. Z06 sizes will be slightly more as will Chrome.
We should have our first mountable and testable wheel in Mid January.
Here is a good photo shop of the wheels on a Z06. Again, it is just a photo shop but a good one at that.
.
Thanks
Lou G

What? You guys in the Autocross section are not even interested in looking at this great new wheel option for the track?
Two days and no views? Oh well, I guess you don't need a wheel that will take a 15" big brake kit and also give you an 18" rear wheel option for the track.

Lou, if you want to make an autox rim then make light ones in stock C5Z sizes with a -0.25 inch offset for the fronts.
I had to give an arm to get my "special" Strelnick-CCWs with titanium bolts. Unlike roadracing rims, autox rims don't need the same strength requirements. We don't hit curbs. Make us a 15lb rim...then we can talk!!
Nice looking rims though.

15 Pounds?
We are limited in the ALMS to 18 pounds, because anything lighter was deemed unsafe. Or at least they found that they had a short life, and had to be checked and replace too often.
No one on the street will "check or replace" wheels.
We will be happy to be lighter than stock, which I am pretty sure that we will be.
Thanks

So we set out to build a wheel that had some ALMS Lemans BBS Style, and function, yet had some of the look of the Pratt Center lock wheel from their hot rod street Corvette.
Our design is more muscular than the others, and it we made to fit the 15" BB kits.
Thanks for the props. I will pass it on.
