Default Why We Race: The Mustang Challenge

Did anybody else catch this on HD Theatre today? It looks like a series about the Miller Mustangs series. Looks like those guys tear up a lot of cars. :-/

HD Theatre also has a program called `Star Racer' that appears to be about the Star Mazda series.

HDTH is channel 281 on DirecTV.

$75k for the car. Estimated $200k for the 8 race series.

Funny to hear a guy who races a Corvette say "deep pockets." :-)

I'm still building my 21 year old RX7... sold my 26 year old Pro7 prepared RX7 a couple of years ago. Been contemplating prepping the Miata because it costs less to completely prep than it would to buy two sets of CCWs+tires for the C6.

The C6 is just too much fun, though...

200k would be over 20 years of racing for me.

From initial post: "It looks like a series about the Miller Mustangs series. Looks like those guys tear up a lot of cars."

Did not see the show, but sounds exactly like some of them were driving at Road Atlanta in about March '08. Eight of the cars were there and that is the impression they left with me.

I have my dvr set up to record this series but have only watched one episode. Seems like for the most part, its dominated by big money teams, but one kid that seems to be doing the best is really a grassroots effort from his family. I remember him from winning an SM championship a year or two ago. Seems like a good driver and its always good to see a small team winning... gives me hope kinda like that flag they put on the greens at golf courses.

I missed the show - we don't have HD anyway. But, these guys were at the 25 Hours of Thunderhill taping the Miller Cup cars, including the 00 car that Boris Said was driving and the 98 car that was in the overall lead by 2 laps when they lost their differential with 35 minutes to go! They had cool HD cameras and were all over the place - seemed to be taping nonstop. Let me know when that episode airs - I think I passed both of those cars 3 times in the GTM I was driving - maybe I'll be on TV.

BTW, BF Goodrich and the Miller Cup (sponsored) teams had a huge hospitality tent set up and they were showing this show on a big projector and invited anybody to come watch. Pretty cool of them... deep pockets indeed!!

Watched the first 1/2 of the first episode. Was cool to see RdAtl after just running there. You could definitely tell Caddell had the experience. Once he was in front, he was gone.

I watched 1/2 an epasode last night got the DVR set to record them all, It's kind of cool watching people race on TV that you have raced with.

Tony Buffomante is 4th in points a former NASA ST2 National Champ.

I was wrong here. Looks like some kind of reality show where they're picking racers from a bunch of different disciplines and going to do something with them. I assume run them in some spec series or another.

heres a clue, it has nothing to do with the fluid... theres this multicellular organism that sits behind the steering wheel, if faulty, cars crash.

There wasn't enough racing for me...like many other reality shows there was too much talking and not enough action. That being said it still better than that show that had all the Solstices puttering around the track. I'll watch it again!
