April 18 Road America -- weather too risky?
I just saw that the MW F-Body club is running another event at RA April 18-19. I've done their events before and am itching to get out since I still haven't tracked the car with the new motor. However, I'm a little worried that the weather may still suck by then. At $395 for early registration I'm wondering if I should wait for NCM or a NASA event later in the year.
What do you guys think?

I've gone to that event the last two springs and have enjoyed the event. It's nice to get out there early after the long winter! I usually sign up for one day as it's common for one day to be decent and the other day to have some weather issues. If I get my car all back together I'll be there.

I'll probably go if I can get the car back together. Road America ate the engine last time out (carousel + top of 3rd + high G's = seized engine!). This time I'll have an accusump + road race pan.

What else would you like to know? http://www.mfba.org/ is their website. I've also done two years of their fall events but the track schedule is to full now for that, NCM has no date there this year as well.

Run the carousel in fourth. No shifting then until after the kink to fifth.

Thanks for the responses guys. They have an early registration that ends on 12/31 to save a decent chunk of cash, but I think I'll hold off until closer to the date to commit. No sense saving a few bucks if I end up having to take the SUV on the track instead of the 'Vette due to snow

I would hold off until the event, especially if you're coming down with a new motor. You know that it's going to be cold, it just depends on if it's going to snow or not!! I know everyone gets excited to get out and run after the long winter but I know you don't run that many events Mark so you may as well make the ones you do count. The NCM event was great fun last year, Badger Bimmers is great because you can do 3 days. I guess it comes down to the fact that you will get one nice weekend in April, so you have a 1 in 4 chance of getting lucky.
