Hankook Z214
From: Dave Martin <martin@hankook-atc.com>
Hankook management is considering adding 295/30ZR18 and 315/30ZR18 sizes to the Z214 tire line, but at this time, a final decision hasn't been made.
A new Z222 tire line is going to replace the Z212. The first seven sizes should be available by the end of April. It's a much better tire than the Z212.
225/45ZR15W
225/50ZR16W
225/45ZR17W XL
255/40ZR17W XL
245/40ZR18W XL
265/35ZR18W XL
285/35ZR18W XL
-----
I would suggest we all email the Hankook guys and push them to make some 'vette friendly sizes! Personally I'd like the 295/30r18+315/35r18 combo for the C6!

I suggested mostly C6 sizes to them... because that's what I care about, but I strongly encourage people to email them inquiries about whatever sizes they care about. It's the only way they'll actually make the sizes...

Glen-
I will certainly pop them an email for those sizes. We need all the tire options we can get !!
Do you know what the new tires are intended to compete against this time?
Hoosier A6? R6? or Toyo's? Falken's? etc.?

The Z214 is their hot DOT-R tire. The Z222 (replacing the Z212) is their hot summer tire.
L98Terror probably has the most/best experience with the Z214 as he's run both the medium (C50) and soft (C70) compounds. In another thread he compared the C70 to the Hoosier A6...

C50 is like the R6 a little harder and they last longer before falling off.
I have no hard evidence that a Hankook is faster or slower than a Hoosier but I have run both & I felt my car was extremely predictable and fast on the Kook. I do know that the C70 were 1.2 seconds faster than the C50s (with 4 extra heat cycles) I did run those back to back.

How does the C70 compare to the Kumho V710?? I would like to have a "dual purpose" tire for both autocross and HPDE but price may be an issue this year to run two sets of tires in different compounds.
Because I need 275/40-17's, it looks like the Z222 may not be an option for track days for me. Hard to say if there is a market for that size given that Kumho and Falken have good street/track tires.
Also, what's a good online source for Hankook? Tire Rack carries Hankook, but they don't show competition tires. Discount Tire also shows Hankook but again, street tires.

Phil's Tire check NASAForums for contact info
I've never ran a New 710 so I can't say. If Kuhmo does a Deal with NASA (or ME )this year I may.
You can also go to the Hankook site and they give you a list of Comp tire suppliers.
I wouldn't recommend a C70 or a A6 as a HPDE tire that would be a R6 or C50 or 710. But in all reality I would recommend a NITTO NT-01 or RII for HPDE those things just last and last and don't fall off as much as the rest even after 50 or so heat cycles.
