Any word on if they will be coming back this year? Is Lou going to be racing at all?
My favorite thing about this forum was following there racing.

Lou,
I'll be at the Sebring test days - probably Tuesday. It sounds like another fun time.

Melting Slicks
I have a question concerning the '09 GT2 regs. I understand the performance impact of increased min. weight and smaller restrictors.
I assume the increased ride height decreases downforce. But I also assume the Gurney flap increases rear wing downforce and adds some drag. Is this correct?
Good luck and I hope you can make it to the LBGP

3.3.8 - Maximum width :
Across the front and rear wheel arches, the width of the
bodywork (ACO Homologation form) may be increased by
10 cm :
a/ The modification shall retain the original appearance of
the fenders as much as possible ;
b/ Overall width (rear view mirrors excluded) cannot
exceeds 200 cm ;
c/ The rocker panels / doorsills and the sides of the front
and rear bumpers may be modified with the only
purpose to join them up to the wider fenders.
d/ The modifications above must be made once only and
must be approved by the ACO (homologation form).

Thanks guys,
We do have wide wheels. total section width is 14" so we have a 13.5 wheel in the rear, and a 12.5 front. The fenders are just "pooched" out very smoothly to give the least aero drag.
The wicker is more drag, but we have to balance it with less angle to keep the same down force balance with the front.
The 55mm ride height is not an issue, because the cars will slam down at speed anyway. The rule that makes a difference is that "NO car underbody can touch the ground at any time". They need to clarify about curbs and big bumps etc but they will be looking for the cars that drag on the ground for sure.
The smaller restrictors will kill about 30 hp from our package. That is a ton but each car has to drop size so it will be equal.
The funny thing is that the weight increase fell right into our hands. We were over weight anyway. The car was never down to min weight, so the increase helps us slightly. And the restrictor size has gone up and down, so we have the same restrictor at Sebring that we had in 08, so it will be a just a small difference for us.
We almost had Michelin tires but again, no deal. Still may be a "Small" chance but since we are not running a full season(at the moment) their decision was made easier. In their defense, they were really nice and tried to get the tires for us but just a part time team at the moment didn't help.
We have Dunlops for the test. Still trying to beg one or two sets of Michelins to give them some "data" to aid with the development of a GT2 tire for "the people's Team" from GM. (get it, People's team meaning Tax payers )
Hey, who am I to question the logic of racing two Corvettes around against no one for 12 hours. Oh yeah, a stockholder.
But I digress.
We have a much better car than in 08. Still no new heads for the test. (GM said NO we can't have what they use) But we have some new and very strong C5R heads from the early years of the Corvette program but we have to build a manifold for them. (GM said NO, we can't have what they used) Still, no problem, we will make our own. Probably better anyway.
WE have inproved the aero down force over the past 12 months, so Sebring will be a good test with a couple of high speed corners and some high speed braking.
still trying to finalize the driver lineup for the 12 hour. Getting closer.
Thanks guys,
We will keep you posted.
