Default C6 Z06 Autocross Setup

We'll be running an 08 C6Z this year. Having some difficulty nailing down the best tire size.

Co-driver and I will probably be trying many different setups this year.

My first stab will be Hoosier A6's with 315/30/18's up front. And 345/30/19 in the back.

I'm anxious to try the 325/30/19 in the back for gearing purposes. But want to see how well the car will put down power with the big meats.

May try 295's in the front, but I feel like that's too small of a size for the front. We'll see.

Alignment: We'll be shooting for 2ish negative in the front and 1.5 negative in the rear. 1/8inch toe in for the rear. Zero toe in the front.

Have a lightweight exhaust being built as we speak.

I'm still undecided on front bar, shocks. And I'm curious if anyone knows of any stock legal rims besides OEM and the TireRack selections.

So far, the car has proven to be a blast on the street. Can't wait for the first Auto-X!

Assuming you are running in SS, I can't say that you are going to fit 315's on the front 9.5" rim.

If I am not mistaken the C6Z06 comes with:
18 x 9.5" fronts
19 x 12" rears

Most I know w/ the C6Z06 run Hoosier A6's. I assume Kumho has those sizes out now, but I know they didn't for a while. 295/30-18 fronts / 345/30-19 rears

The 315's will fit the front just fine.

Yes, this car will be run in SS.

Sadly, Kumho does not have any 19" v710's. So hoosiers it is.

Kumho's not paying contingency monies this year anyway.

The Tirerack ad in Sportscar listed the Kumho V710 in a 335/30/19 but it's not on Tirerack's web site. Don't know why it's not on their web site.

I run Hoosier A6's 295 in the front and 345 in the rear. I have Pfadt Racing Inverted sport shocks and have just ordered their adjustable SS Sway bar. I run -2.4 Camber in the front, -0.7 in the rear along with some toe out in the front and about 1/4" toe in at the rear.

I'm getting pretty close to the top of the heap where I run. We'll see if that translates into success at Dixie in March .

Oh yeah, mine's an '08 as well.

Several guys in my region complained about the C6Z wanting to push. Did you experiance a problem with the car wanting to push?

You are running close to the ideal setup. I ran -1.4 degrees of negative camber in the rear for a little more grip coming out of corners. I also had Penske shocks, but the Pfadts will do just fine.

On a stock alignment with street tires it pushed some.

I don't push at all now. I've got the Pfadt shocks set pretty soft in the front to help it turn. I'm on setting 5 of 16. I run 12 in the rear. In the event we just finished, the car felt fantastic.

I've run with -1.5 in the back before and I really didn't like it. The car felt twitchy and straight-line acceleration suffered.

What do you mean by twitchy? And what elements did the car feel twitchy in?

I'll keep a tab on your progress at Dixie! Good luck to you!

The car just doesn't feel planted and the back end feels like it wants to dance all over the place, even in a straight line. It was very unnerving for me.

If you think about it, it kind of makes sense. The more negative camber you put in, the smaller the contact patch when going straight. I understand why we want to go negative, so we maximize the contact patch in the turns. For me, I'm just balancing the positive and negative benefits of both, along with making me comfortable behind the wheel.

Has anyone else driven your car reported the same thing?

Please don't take any offense to this. But have you had any success on the national level?

I'm open to any advice on alignment. We're only going to have 3 events to dial in the car before the Houston Tour. So it would be nice to start off with something close to right.

I am co driving with Joan Clark this season. She and Steve Burger are pretty well known in this sport. Both drove my car quite a bit last season, but not with the -1.5 in the back.

I have NOT run nationally yet, but will be doing Dixie and Lincoln at a minimum this year. I finished my past event 4th in PAX and was only 0.05 seconds behind 2nd. Darrin Disimo and Dave Lehman were 2 of the 3 in front of me. Disimo finished 4th at Topeka in CS. Lehman finished 7th in ASP. His co-driver, Hector, finished 4th.

Lehman has been egging me on to run nationally. It's time. I'm certain I won't win. Christ, I'm 6'5", 290 pounds. I'm my own handicap.

I think Joan will win SS Ladies in Dixie.

I'm VERY close to the top. The sway bar and some more minor adjustments and I think I get FTD with this group.

Yes, I know Darrin very well. Have run into Lehamn a few times. Know of hector. Tough group to run with.

I wish you luck on the national scale. It's a whole different ball game. Hopefully we'll meet up sometime.

Tell Disimo I said hi.
