Wheel Combinations???
I have access to two sets of Stock Z06 Wheels. I believe they are 17 Fronts and 18 Rears. Does it make sense to use the 17s or 18s together??? Or would the 18s on the front be too wide??
What would be the benefit (if any) of using the 17s or the 18s?
I have been using these wheels for the past 3 seasons. I think I can get one more season out of the Rears, and the Fronts on both sets have plenty of tread left.
Thanks

This is a popular subject. Do a search on here and you'll find lots of threads on wheel size.
All three combinations work. It probably comes down to your tire selection.

Yes your can run 17s all around as well as 18s.
The trick is to make sure that the tires diameter of your front tires that you select are approximately 7/10ths of an inch shorter than the rear tires that you select for C5 (C6 like 1.25" of stagger). This allows the Traction control, active handling and most importantly the ABS to work correctly.
We have found that the guys that run the same height tire all the way around are giving up substantial braking performance unless they disable the ABS. If you are not willing to disable the ABS, then make sure that you pick tires with the .7" stagger front to rear.
For anyone in Northern California, keep in mind that MSI is a direct dealer for Hoosier and Toyo tire (we also offer Michelin, Goodyear and Kumho) and we offer mounting, balancing and precision alignments and chassis setups.

you could run 17s but your tire size will be limited. The 17s OEM size is 265s though you can increase you will not get 315 on the rear. You could get one set of your 17in wheels widen which might be a good alternative if you wanted to use the 17s.
If you went with the 18s you could run wider tire sizes without doing any changes.
I run 17s on all 4 corners because of the cheaper price and because I happen to already have CCWs in 17in. What I lose in some areas I pick up in others and to be frank I am never pushing the car to 100% of the tire limit so they are fine for me. I run Hoosiers R6 and now A6 275/40/17 front and 315/35/17 rear. The only issue I have is I cannot have traction control on (I dont know if this is because of the tire compound or because of the size difference). Active handling and still works although I do not run that either. I have no issues with ABS.
