Default coil-over help

I'm working on a C5 race car that has coils overs. The shocks were bought through Mid America but I don’t know what brand they are. No markings to indicate who made them. What I need is a source to rebuild them and replace the front lower mount with a heim type. They also need to be re-charged. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

They were bought through Mid America Corvette Parts several years ago. I'm sure they were made by someone else and sold through them.

I hate to state the obvious but post a pic of the shocks and someone may identify them ..you could also call Mid America and ask what they sold back then ..link them to this thread and they can see the pic as well.
Good Luck.

Those look like Pro shocks. Don't belong on a corvette if its even a remotely serious race car. Those are meant to go on circle track cars where the corners get torn off every weekend.

I think the wear pattern of the anodizing on the shock is quite interesting.

This car is strictly a track car. I was surprised to see such a weak looking mount when I tore in to it. It looks like it was designed to be a heim type connection to me.

its its strictly a track car, get a track coliover, penske, pfadt, LG, etc all have REAL track oriented suspension stuff.

I've never head of mid America stuff, so I'd assume its not all that great, and with the added help of that picture I'm sure you can say the same.

OK, out of those three which is recommended? This car is for track use only.

Thanks

depends on the size of your pocketbook.

top of the line has got to be penskes or motons.

Once the budget is determined its best to work with a professional shock builder. Someone who is willing to work with the customer and truly understands what needs are to be met. Most sell more than one brand. Real race shocks are not off the shelf items direct from the manufacturer. The builder simply uses components from a chosen manufacturer and custom assembles a unique damper for the application.
Personally I am very pleased with my prototype Ohlins TTX dampers. They are very high end and are of a unique design that is cutting edge. Quality is second to none. All that being said, unless the driver is very experienced he/she will not be able to tell a difference as long as the dampers are somewhat decent.
