Default SCCA PDX and school NJMP March 20-22

The Jersey Racing Board has scheduled a PDX, Club Trials and SCCA racing school for NJ Motorsports Park on March 20,21 and 22. The Lightning course will be utilized for all track time. The event is co-sponsored by the Northern NJ region and the South Jersey Region SCCA. Links for information and sign-up can be found at; SCCCA-NNJR.org and DLBRacing.com. This event will be first one of the season in the NY, NJ and Pa area, a good time to shake the rust off and see how those winter mods work out. Thanks!

Just go to the DLBracing site and sign up for the PDX. If you want to go to the SCCA school which would count as one school for a regional competition license. You would have to join SCCA and apply for a novice permit. There will be both national and regionally licensed competion members there for the PDX.

Thanks!

What category would a c6z06 with some engine and suspension mods run in ? Is a scca cage required to participate in the school, pdx, and time trials ? Where is the course for the pdx ?

This confused me also when I first looked into tracking my car:

PDX - performance driving experience. This is a drivers school. It is not competition and does not lead to competition. As a novice you will have an instructor in car with you. All you *need* is a proper helmet and your car must pass a tech inspection. There is track time and classroom time. There are no car classes, rather drivers are sorted into novice, intermediate, advanced and instructor run groups. No roll cage/bar required. For many folks, including me, this is all they do, they never intend to compete.

Competition school is what you do if you want to eventually compete. To compete takes a license and this is a step in getting the license.

Time Trial - this is a competiton. Not wheel to wheel but rather you against the clock, fast guy wins. This is where car classing comes in.

All of the above run the on the same track. The day is broken into time slots. One time slot may have a race. Another may have a Novice PDX group, etc.

I'm signed up along with some (non-vette) friends to do the PDX on the 21st... hope I can have a forum member as my instructor.

their (SCCA) rules and regulations for a PDX are a little confusing though. Its not a cut and dry as some orginaziations I've raced with. However, my understanding is that if your car is registered and inspected (i.e. safe and legal to use on public roads) you are able to participate in a PDX. Past that I'm sure sure what deal is...

there are so many SCCA regions, and they each have their own website...very confusing.

Regarding the Time Trial...if you want to do the PDX AND the Time trial, do you pay the PDX fee in addition to the time trial fee? Also how does their schedule work when they have both in the same day. I have done Time Trials with CART, and they basically shut down the track around 3:30pm, and do time trials the remaining part of the day. How does the SCCA handle it?

Can't tell you since I am not directly involved in running this event. HOWEVER, if you e-mail South Jersey Region, they usually respond quite rapidly. See e-mail address in their website.

according to their website only 18 people out of a possible 60 are registered for the PDX.
Only two corvettes out of that bunch.

I'm signing up. I emailed them a few days ago but got no response to my question. Maybe a forum member does. Will they let a Posche Boxster S run with only factory roll hoops? My dad has one and he does not have a hardtop. The SCCA PDX rules state that if the owners manual says it is rollover protection it is ok.

My friend who drives an s2000 asked the same question because all he has are the factory hoops installed and they told him he'd be good to go.
