4 hours, 3 bearing puller tools and 3 deep bruises later... that bastard pilot bearing is out.

it took an amazing feat of man-strength to get that thing removed.

im out of town starting tomorrow, so I'll be buttoning everything back together next saturday.

You have my sympathies having to do that job on the garage floor without a lift !! Next time you are trying to remove a pilot - take a propane torch or oxy acetelyne on low setting and heat the metal all around the bearing till it's good and hot. It will expand a couple of thousands and make it much easier to remove the bearing.

Hopefully there will be no next time. By the time this one wears out I hope to be making the big bucks ... then I can pay someone to do this ****.

Everythings back in the car and bolted up. Tomorrow all I have to do is bolt up the midpipe, replace the tranny/diff fluid and I get to fire her up!

I'm not sure that doing it myself was worth the backache, but its done now, no going back.

Nice job doing it yourself.

In that 2nd picture I count at least 19 tires and 5 bare rims...NICE!

and its DONE.

everything is back together, car is running great. The thing sounds completely different with the new flywheel/pressure plate. All in all its a 22lb savings over the stock clutch, and you can definitely tell behind the wheel.

now I just have to relearn how to shift the damn thing, the revs drop so fast between upshifts.
