I believe that is the Chevy Cruze. There is a feature in the current
issue of Race Car Engineering.

Thanks for the link.

It's not a Cruze - - it is a Chevrolet Lacetti sedan.

Same car that they use in the 'Star in a Reasonably-Priced Car' celebrity fast-lap segments on BBC's Top Gear TV show.

...( I LOVE this show !!! )...

100 mph slide?

Heck just watch the ALMS cars go though the last two turns on Sebring..

But that was a great slide and save

Look were you want to go and be and keep on the throttle.

at the end of the interview, did he say his wife would put him on a sex ban if he didn't win?

That was the one I was thinking of. "How did he not lose that car?"

Answer: Prayer.

Have a good one,
Mike

Thanks for the correction. However, is there a material difference
between the Lacetti and a Cruze? Or is this badge engineering for
a Daewoo design?

I've since read that the '08 Lacetti was an Ray Mallock Limited (RML)
entry for Plato to drive in the BTCC.
The Cruze is slated to contest the WTCC
.

Both were incredibly good saves.

Throttle down, eyes out on target... good stuff!

BTCC is the BEST, and MOST COMPETITIVE RACING in the WORLD.
The top 10 cars are usually separated by less than a .9 seconds.

Does anyone know when these will be on SPEED Channel?

Thanks for posting the video... Interesting to see their progress with a brand-new car. You can tell from the 'Cover-All' graphics in the beginning of the video that they were still trying to disguise the styling during the initial built-up and testing of the WTCC car.

I believe you're right about the Lacetti being a rebadged Daewoo design, especially given GM's recent history with small car offerings.

But the Cruze is definitely a pure in-house GM product. Several GM design studios around the world worked on different parts of the engineering & styling. The end result is a far more advanced street car to start with, so Ray Mallock certainly has more to play with.

...Too bad Speed Channel is TOO STUPID to broadcast the BTCC or WTCC series.

Speed used to show the British Touring Car races in the winter time. They really are great races. I haven't been able to find them on Speed for the past year or two.

What I think is more interesting is seeing a FWD race car that's serious about racing.
