Default [PICS] Katech's Mosler MT900KR project

I thought you guys might like to see the progress of our Mosler MT900KR project. We basically took the MT900S street car and converted it into a track-day/HPDE machine.

Custom built LS2-based 427
Carrillo H-beam rods
Callies Magnum crankshaft
Katech pistons, just over 11:1 CR
DLC pins
GM Stage 3 cam
LS7 heads
Carbon fiber valve covers and coil relocation kit

Expected to make about 640hp.

Considering the car's light weight, awesome power, and phenomenal cornering ability, a proper dry sump system was high on our priority list. This features a custom made dry sump system with ARE pan and Dailey 3 stage scavenge pump. Internal pressure pump. The dry sump system was custom designed to fit within the space constraints of the Mosler and still retain the AC for those hot track days (the Mosler has almost no side window). Also a custom made alternator bracket to make space for the dry sump pump.

I'll post more pictures as things progress.

Beautiful. This has always been, in my opinion, the ultimate street/track car. Relatively easy to work on, lots of Corvette parts, lightweight and proven. Cost and the ability to find one being the only disadvantages. I remember being at the Moroso road course several years ago and having one of these fly by my C5 Z06. I had to check to make sure my car was actually in gear. Unfortunately it was.

Jason, how does the LS2 based 427 compare with the LS7 Street Attack? Advantages and disadvantages, cost, etc.

This will surely be a monster!

There are a lot of similarities with the Street Attack LS7 especially since this particular one has LS7 heads. Costs used to end up the same until recently when the price of the LS7 base engine went up. Now it is more cost effective to do a Value 427 LS2 with LS7 heads (if you don't have an LS7 already).

Yes, those are the dyno headers with 8 EGT and 8 O2 channels. That is the way to do it properly on the engine dyno. The car won't have that.

Yup, and it will be at Track Attack in 25 days.....this time with a serious attitude!

Everett was kind enough to let me drive the car last year. I think I may have to drive it again, just to make sure everything is working properly.

NOW I am getting excited Mike - as the project starts to come together the reality is sinking in! I suspect the car will be able to scare the you-know-what out of me and I will definitely need to have a new level of respect for the power!

Maybe you and I will have to trade off a Beast drive for a MT900KR drive!

Specifically, the MT900's using the side window design done in the UK...the last thing I did, before leaving Mosler, was brief them on my window design, that would allow the full side glass to go down. This was the first production car, with the full window: Click me, to see

Let's start you off with the Volvo!

Everett,

Aside from seeing the car perform, I can't wait to hear how it sounds!

I was hoping to at least start with the CTS-V...

I am happy that Jason and Katech figured out how to properly dry sump the system - no small job because space is at such a premium. It looks like a great job!

I can only imagine how quick that is going to be. In the 40 something at Lime Rock if you ran it there. Trans Am cars do 51's there the record is 43 something.

I have seen this car from EVERY angle () and there are few places for aerodynamic drag. It is so flat and clean on the bottom it must develop considerable ground effect down force.

With the light weight, new Katech power and more limber suspension, no one is going to be safe!

I am sure looking forward to seeing her again!

Congrats Everett!!!

Dean
