Thats awesome but I wish it was on the other side of Atlanta and closer to southern Alabama.

I got spoiled in Texas by living 20 mins away from two race tracks.

They are having a track unveiling event on July 30th:

"Life in the fast lane just got a little more exciting. . .

On July 30th, Atlanta Motorsports Park (AMP), a private country club for fast, exotic cars and bikes, will introduce the design for its new world-class track.

Join us at Hennessy Porsche in Roswell as we unveil three dimensional images of the first and only track of its kind in the United States. The much anticipated new driving course is the creation of the famed Formula One track designers, Tilke Engineers & Architects. Tilke is responsible for the circuits in Bahrain, Sepang, and Malaysia, and AMP is proud to partner with the track designers in their first project in the US. The new track will make AMP the only green/sustainable/eco-friendly motorsports park in the world.

Everyone is talking about the innovative track, but you can be among the first to experience history in the making. Atlanta Falcons’ wide receiver Michael Jenkins and a number of other celebrities will be at the July 30th event. SPEED Channel Commentator Bob Varsha will serve as the Master of Ceremonies and the Grey Goose Vodka models and team will also be on hand. This exclusive preview is limited to the first 100 RSVPs.

AMP combines the service and amenities you expect from an upscale country club with the thrill of no-speed-limit driving. The presentation of the world-class track only strengthens the park’s reputation as North America’s premier motorsports facility. Do not miss this opportunity to experience the future of high performance driving; mark July 30th on your calendar today. For more information or to reserve your spot to preview the challenging turns and exhilarating straightaways, please call 678.513.3278(FAST) or email Membership@AtlantaMotorsportsPark.net."

I noticed that date was still on the NASA-SE calendar as well. It sucks, but you are right... that is a total pipe dream at this point. Probably would have happened if they hadn't received so much opposition.

This is another reason Atlanta is a GREAT place to live for car guys... Road Atlanta, Talladega Gran Prix Raceway, Barber Motorsports Park, Roebling Road, Carolina Motorsports park... and now Atlanta Motorsports park all within a few hours drive or less. Woo hoo!
