Default [ALMS] Team Corvette Seen Practicing in new GT2 car

"We recently reported Chevrolet was rumored to be switching from the bespoke wide-body Corvette used in GT1, to a more stock-looking body styled like the ZR1 as it moved into the GT2 class in ALMS. Now, the first few pics of the new Pratt & Miller Corvette C6.R GT2 have surfaced courtesy of Teen Kaas at AmericanLeMansFans.com. Set to challenge the existing front-runner Ferraris, as well as the M3s, Porsches, Viper, Ford GT and Panozes, the ZR1 might be just what the General needs to stay at the head of its class.

As you can see from the photos, the hood window is gone, but the car does bear a resemblance to the ZR1 with a few minor tweaks for the track. There's a revised grille in front, a large spoiler out back and a new diffuers underneath, but other than that it looks fairly close to the stock unit. If the hood window remained you'd see a 6.0-liter LS7 this year, which will be replaced by a 500-hp, 5.5-liter race-tuned LS3 for 2010 when the rules change next year."

But I'd still like to see some brotherly love for the LG team...

honestly I think the LG car wins in the looks department, that car is ugly! the nose looks weird, and so does the rear splitter....

now I'm sure the LS7 sounds amazing, and the car performs really well though.

I'm sure the wing height is rules regulated........ World Challenge was even with roof, but ALMS GT1 may be a few inches lower.

Looks like Rd Atlanta..... and I like the spray paint.

btw, who's running GT2 for GM this year???? Is it "in house" via P&M, or are they selling them to private teams??

The need to let Lou drive it - right. I can't wait for the Lou vs. GM shootout.

That is going to be interesting. It is going to be interesting to watch them explain 2 completely different Corvette's cars in the same class on TV?

In house this year.

last year the idea was to develop for the 'customer' but who knows now.

According to the published ACO regulations GT1 wings cannot be higher than the highest point of roofline, GT2 wings must be 10cm lower than the highest point.

the disappointing part of the GM vs. Lou battle is the fact that GM's development budget is easily an order of magnitude larger than Lou's

not to mention a superior tire (Michelin vs Dunlop customer)

Think it's more of a lower rear wing? I mean, if you channel enough air over it and have it at that AOA... ?

Don't be so quick to dismiss Dunlop, the factory Rahal/Letterman BMW is on Dunlops and hopefully Lou may benefit from their development.
