Default Breaking News-GM Road Racing Boss Wesoloski FIRED

Breaking News, GM Road racing boss, Steve Wesoloski was FIRED and word is that he was escorted out of GM by Security on Wednesday. Computers confiscated plus his Company car. Security then called him a cab.

Karma is a funny thing.

And the word is that there are more heads to roll.

PS, Yes we had a hot weekend at Long Beach.

.Wow.

So - whose corn flakes did he **** on?

Gotta wonder if this action signals eminent doom for some (or all) of GM's current racing programs, or was it just something personal...

BTW- Love the Gub'ment Racing pic, Lou.

When you get escorted out of a job it's more than just the economics of the business. It's something bad and HR is always involved.

Tom,
I do believe the car your sig has shown has now been banned by nobama

Only 1980 Pintos or older now allowed.

Not quite. The "crushing of all cars over 10 years old" pending legislation called "cash for clunkers" will eliminate the 1980 Pinto option being available....

Wonder if Wesoloski bad-mouthed a GM corporate decision regarding racing or if the entire program was moved into some other area?

Sometimes you do see employees (either management or staff) being escorted out of a building. If that person has access to company proprietary data, computer systems, or is seen as somebody who could be come angry or upset with a termination, then an escort is typically done.

When I worked in state government, we had a IT manager terminated one day and he was escorted out of our computer center by one of his employees. He was allowed to come back a week later to pick up his personal belongings, but he had to call ahead and was escorted in and out.

At that level, I guess I don't see this as too surprising. Chances are there is more to this story and it may come out later.

When GM lets anyone go, even us peons at the very bottom, security always escorts them out, every time.

That is SOP at lot's of places, including my company. I wouldn't read too much into it.

That's been standard practice in all the jobs that I've worked at.

I want to hear the reasoning behind this firing. Not just some crap about Obama.

Lou, I'm glad you broke the "press embargo" that you made me take after you told me about this Fri. morning . Fehan made a vague reference to "some people not having jobs anymore" during the Q&A Fri. afternoon.

Hope the car is OK, I guess you could call Boris a really "hot shoe!"

btw, thanks for the LGM ballcap, I was pretty conspicouos in the hospitality tent amid the sea of corvette racing paraphernalia

It's SOP in most IT departments as well.

I knew something was up....I'm "friends" with Steve on Facebook, and his recent posts made it pretty obvious there were some issues developing.

Interested in hearing more as it develops

Yep. Same here. I really hate it for Steve, and hope everything is okay (aside from the job loss, that is). I didn't know him all that well prior to Sebring this year, but got to spend a lot of time hanging out w/ him there and really like him. Nice guy, and enjoyable to be around.

Fred
