Default Winter Project Complete : C4 Racer

Hi Gang,
I purchased this car here on the Forum last fall. It was in need of some major TLC! It was disassembled from front to back and I just finished up the project last week. We took the car to Putnam Park on Saturday with MVP Track Time for a shake down. The day was beautiful and the car ran flawlessly until the alternator failed late in the day and sent us home. I want to give Randy and Doug from DRM a big Thank You for their help with endless questions and parts supply! I have posted some pictures of the end result...enjoy!

What mods did you?
I thought the car was 'ready for the track'

Brian,
The car was pretty much used up when I got it. All maintenance items were addressed: new bushings, rebuilt shocks, rebuilt calipers, brake lines, misc. fittings replaced, wheel bearings, fluids, etc... The drivers side floor was also broken and required extensive repair. The floor pan was welded up and reinforced. The fiberglass portion of the floor was reinforced with aluminum. The factory seat mounting studs were removed and that area under the car was reinforced. I mounted the seat with HardBar seat rails. The drivers cockpit is now very secure.
The rear of the car was repainted and the aluminum additions added. All of the wiring in the rear of the car was replaced and upgraded. The spoiler was also added while working on the tail. The spoiler came from Blaine Fabrication. Alan was a good guy to work with! I'm sure there is more.....I am very **** about my cars and it seemed wherever I turned, something needed to be addressed. I am pleased with the outcome as it was all worth it. It did however destroy its budget.....

How much did the spoiler cost? Was it made for your car specifically or do they carry them in stock?

Very cool car!!!

Guys I appreciate the compliments!! There was alot of hard work put into this car.......

"Kubs" - The rear spoiler was made for this car. Alan makes these spoilers on a "by order" basis. The brakets were the main difference between the early C4's and the later body style C4. Give Alan a call and check on the current pricing. I did mod the under body brakets a little to get them easier to mount. The install wasn't too bad, just be patient.....

NICE!! Was beginning to think I was the only one crazy enough to go get a new (to me) C4 these days. Granted, yours is a bit more hardcore than mine.

You just showed me what wheels are going on mine next. I still need a set of wets... hmmmmmmm....

Does putting openings in the rear bumper like that help much? I've seen that before.

Is this Evan's old car "Big Red" built by Alan Blaine?

I was wondering the same thing... I have thought since I first saw it that there would be a lot of pressure up underneath that bumper (especially with the Greenwood parts that I have)

Scott,
Great to see your car ready to go again. It looks great! It is obvious you have take a lot of care to address what you felt needed attention. There are very few C4's intended for the track that look as good as yours.

I asked KB Aero Biscuit about it a few months ago and he thought it wouldn't really help. I was wondering if whomever installed it did some testing. I was thinking of making a cover to smooth out the air flow under there. With that there wouldn't be any air in the bumper at all. I don't want to lose down force from the rake effect though.
