Default Monroe Sensatrac Shocks, Any Good?

Ive been looking at shocks and was wondering if anyone has the Monroe Sensatracs? Im looking for a better handeling ride than stock, dont care if ride is smooth or not. Car is lowered and I expect a bumpy ride. Can these handle the corners better than stock C5 shocks?

The web pages says "Passenger Car Shock Absorbers"

not 'Performance Car shock absorbers'

Get the Bilstiens, or Penskes

If the OP is looking at Monroe, I doubt he'll spend 1k to 3k for serious shocks.

I say go with 2004 z06 stock or c6 z51, either for under $500 and be done with it..

Where are u in SoCal Natie? pm me.

Actually the Blisteins Sports were at top of my list but Ive recieved offers on some C6 Z51 shocks. I was just curious on the Monroes but what I use the car for, sorry, I wont spend 1K on shocks.

Monroe Sensatrac is what you put on your mom's sedan. ;-) There is nothing performance oriented about them. Just cheap with mushy ride.

If you want cheap but GM-style then C6-Z51 shocks. Better would be 04-Z06. Bilstein is also a good option. After that the price goes way up. You can get the GM shocks via Gene Culley at a pretty good price.

Curious why people are recommending C6 Z51 instead of C6 Z06 shocks?

There were some shock dyno charts posted not too long ago somewhere on these forums that showed the comparison of the two and it appeared that the C6-Z51 shocks were the better choice. Their plot seemed to mimic closer to what high dollar aftermarket shocks should plot.

DO NOT EVER BUY THE SensaTracs for a track car.

When I bought my 92 previous owner had installed them. They were SHOT after less than 10,000 miles!
Get Bilstien or other quality shock!

Same here. I knew the Z06 ones were stiffer but I see more guys recomending the Z51's.

So the C6Z shocks have more high speed bump and rebound. I don't see why that would push somebody towards the Z51 shocks, though.

Bang for the buck value I'd call Randy@DRM about Bilsteins. After that I'd look to the Pfadt Sports or the KONI 3013s (which I personally didn't like). After that you step into HardbarUSA's Penske price range...

Ever notice how those higher dollar aftermarket shocks have a plush ride over bumps but yet keep the car from wallowing or pogoing or whatever you want to call it? One of the main reasons is because they have softer high speed to absorb the bumps yet have high enough low speed damping that controls the car. The Z06 shocks in this graph exhibit a curve that would make for a rougher ride while the lower speed car control damping would be identical to each other.
