Cleaning off clag/pickup/tire boogers
I have set of a6's with about 28 runs on them, but picked up a LOT of clag (asphalt parking lot event - day before some carts had thrown off a lot of rubber).
I am thinking the clag will compromise an otherwise decent set of tires & would like to clean them up. At least the fronts.
Grandpa said work smart b4 work hard so if you have a favorite way to perform this please share.
Thanks.
They are off the car now.
Picture is worth 1000 words, this is one, they are loaded all around.

If a tire has a big goober on it (and it's bugging me), if doesn't come off with a the same effort as picking it off the rim, I don't worry about it.

Or as I discovered this past weekend at ACU-4 in Virginia Beach...A Concrete Auto-X surface will clean all the crap off the tires.

A few laps around your favorite road course should do the trick

Don't worry about it, by the second turn at your next event it'll all be gone.

Even a quick burnout in the driveway will take care of it.

I never find that to be the case in San Diego, you just pick up more.
Even the 60+ mile drive each way for me does not clean them off.
I use a small hand held torch and putty knife.

If my next event was on concrete, maybe, but 40 year old asphalt (Qualcom Stadium) does not have the "scrubbing power" to get this off.
It's not the first time. 710's seem to self clean better than a6's.

Fronts?
I guess I could mount them on the back.
Anyway, neighbors are split as to whether I am allowed burnouts on the cul de sac. So nix on this one.

You ask your neighbors?? We maintain a strict don't ask, don't tell policy. Our neighbors don't ask if it was us and we don't tell them it was!

just drive down to the end of the cul-d-sac and do a few donuts in each direction.
other wise a heat gun and 2 in scraper plus a few cold ones work quite well

I'm with kmagvette, just make a few laps on a clean surface and it will burn right off.

10 minute drive in the rain with normal driving will clean them right off. Everything comes off.
