The Panoz has a new heart...
Before... stock 5.0 w/ shorty headers and a K&N. I gave it a tune up and painted some parts. This is how I ran it all 2008.
After... Pushrods and carbuetors... KISS AFR 165s w/ a custom Ed Curtis cam and a Pro-Systems carb.
Updated design for the FMS shorties, sterling ceramic coated w/ new plug wires
Fresh sidepipes w/ fresh glasspacks with Thermaltech Coatings turbo black 2000 degree coating. Pipes sitck out a good 3/4" and have a nice cut edge. Will make putting supertraps in if necessary.
The results
Also put in new shocks, new springs (sitffer), all new heim joints throughout the whole car, HD trailing arms, rear swaybar kit from the GTS, new HD front swaybar end blades, etc. etc. etc. Car now makes 307 rwhp and weights 2571 lbs, so a 110 rwhp gain and about 150lbs of weight loss.
See you guys at the track... now I can keep up again

good job on the headers and plug wires, mine was eating plug wires like crazy, too much heat, the heat sleeves were a pain in the ars. I also like the exhaust, the standard system generated alot of heat in the car, this any better. Miss my car , but I hate the standard ford powerplant not enough power in the basic 5.0, the gm solution is cool, or the 5.7 ford spec motor.

It is! We wanted it light and simple.
Thanks guys, but I can't take credit for this one. We had Performance Autosport in Richmond go through the car and do all of the work.
I just got the car back last night so Im not sure how it'll be heat wise. The old mufflers had some thermal stuff wrapped around them, but I hope these are a bit better now.
I asked them to make it quieter, but it's really not. The old mufflers were blown out and the right side pipe had a hole in it by the collector. They figured putting in fresh mufflers and having new exhaust would make it quieter... it did, but only marginally. I may look into adding some magnaflows after the cherrybombs.
That... or I'll just wear ear plugs
Car will be out at VIR w/ Mazdadrivers to run the Grand East course.

That seems like the easiest way to go.
Nice work Brian...
I'm sure the mods will make your Panoz "Wicked Fast".

Cool deal. A refresh is always nice. That bigger cam helped to make it louder. All that extra overlap makes for a louder boom when the exhaust valve opens due to higher relative cylinder pressure.

Very cool! I had a Panoz GTS a few years ago and dropped a Dart block motor in it with about 550 HP. With wider wheels and more horsepower they become pretty formidable on a road course. The cars are rock solid too and easy to work on. Great choice for a track car. Any chance you'll be at VIR for the NCM/Chin events late June early July?
