Who was at Pocono last Sunday and drove
The Nascar Oval? When we found out some of us were going to get a chance to drive the Nascar Oval on Sunday I was like a kid on Christmas day! What an experience and the session went without any incidents! Great group Nasa-NE/PDA the guys that ran that day were awesome! The double yellow we were running well over 130mph on the back straight! Love to hear others thoughts that were there! Great week-end. Wow there were some REALLY fast cars including a ZR-1.
thanks

I did not have a lap timer but on the long back straight I hit 162mph and guys blew by me like I was tied to a stump! One of the guys I paddocked with has a 2006 ZO6 stock with hoosier race slicks, he let his Dad drive (his C4 tranny went out Saturday and his Dad wanted to drive that track for years) and he was over 178mph on that section of the track! He was running with the big boys! A ZR-1, Viper, and a few other Vettes from NJ! They were smoking the field. I have a C5 ZO6 with an LS-3 which is no slouch but I was not even close to keeping up.

WANTED- A crew of able personnel to assemble one tired C5. Must be able to motivate owner. Persons need to be deaf so they don't have to listen to the Gloom and Doom. GET YOUR F^&K'IN CAR OUT OF THE GARAGE AND ON THE TRACK. P.S. We still love you

Coilovers, sways and Goodyear slicks
With a 265+ passenger
I was running 1:11 - 1:13 depending on traffic.
hitting 155 mph on the front stretch, 125 @ the apex of turn 1,
155mph at the end of long pond and 130 through the tunnel turn,
115mph at the apex of turn 3.
I "followed" Craig in the ZR1 most of the time. He killed me on the straights but I could make enough time in the corners to keep him in sight for all 10 laps.
I didn't think I was going to like it but it turned out to be really fun and took a lot of concentration to really maintain the speed and it gave me some new found respect for the NASCAR drivers. Running at the limit like that for 4 hours straight would be grueling.
