I can't quite comprehend the use of turbos with such elevation changes.

Someone edjumacate me.

Are turbos better at higher elevations than N/A because they are forcing more air in?

I would like to know that answer too. It seems like they all run turbos. I mean that's the way to make most efficient power with most applications without heat soak issues. Most of those i would imagine are smaller displacement. I thought elevation changes had a greater toll on turbo cars then N/A at higher altitudes.

Before they were called turbos, they were altitude compensators. They make up for the altitude. You can run more boost the higher up you go.

I saw his time in the race results. He was fastest in that class by alot. Almost a 1:30 faster.

GREAT DRIVING!!!! JUST AMAZING!!!

The ***** it takes to setup the drift through some of those turns...
By his clock, 3:40 and 10:11 are particularly brave.

And at 11:10 he looks REALLY close to the edge!


I'm surprised how sluggish the turbo spools toward the top.

The video needs an altimeter.

They're definitely better than N/A at altitude, and I guess they'd be better than a supercharger as well.

Turbos can continue to spin up until the metallurgy deforms, where superchargers are mechanically limited to engine rpm.

So, with a good wastegate, you can generate pretty consistent power out of the engine, although as the turbo works harder the heat issue gets bigger and bigger.

well this put it this way

My electric car team ran a car up Pikes Peak, all of 8hp

We it got to the higher altitudes, it was held up. by a N/A Corvette.

What's that tell you?
