C4 Sway Bar Opinions (Z52?)
Hi all,
I've managed to source myself a 30mm Solid GM Sway bar right here in the UK! I was looking at getting a 24mm in the rear to even things out but I've started to look at the C4 suspension chart and with my stock 20mm rear it worked out that I would end up with the same setup as a 1987 Z52...
Looking at the specs it would seem that the Z52 was more of a fast road setting rather than Track based like the Z51? Can anyone confirm that?
As this car is 95% hard road driven (twisty, bumpy, B-roads) I'm starting to wonder if this might be a setup that I'll like?
I think I'm right in saying that I'll have more understeer than I would with a bigger bar in the rear but maybe on the road its better to see what your about to hit rather than going in backwards
I'm just about to order a full bushing kit as the bushes are the rear are hanging! you can practicly see the driverside wheel steer as I go down the road

My stock Z52 had a lot of body roll. I got the hallow 1.25" and 1" sways from VBP with the recent sale and those are working real nice.

Sorry not sure I wrote that how I should... but basicly how will the car handle with a 30mm front and a 20mm rear both solid.
This was the sway bar setup on a stock 87 Z52 only.

yours being a 88 would have had 26/22 bars not the 30/20 - also I'm not sure if you can compare pre 87 to post 87 cars as I know all the spring rates etc are different??

I run a 30mm solid up front and a 24mm solid in back and find it balanced very well.
Tried a 26mm in back and car had too much oversteer (back end sliding out too much)
There is a whole lot more to it than simply sway bar size!
-driving style
-spring rate
-shock stiffness
with that said, you will like the 30mm up front no matter what rear you use. (In my opinion) So install it and drive it. You can change rear bar later if you find one reasonable.

All C-4s will go with the groves in the road Ect. it's the weel alinement. I went with this way better than stock alinement you can feel the diffannce 100% better. Front toe 0 camber .25 degrees nagative Caster 5-7 degrees pos. Rear toe 1/8 inch toe in Camber .50 degrees neg. The wheel guy looked at me weard but I said do it . I love it wheel ware over stock after 2000 miles I don't see any.
