Default Handy fastener torque chart

This is a little different than most charts you will find. The verticle columns are how much stress the fasteners are under with the coresponding torque for each fastener thread on the right. The yellow column is at the 50,000 PSI level which for all Grade 5 or above is a good value. Note how much clamping force even a small fastener generates (axial load row). Now I need to do one for ISO threads, some are close, like 5/16 and M8.

I like it, Gary. A handy way to reference a target prestress, find the clamping force and get an approx torque value.

Exactly!

I have not seen a similar chart for ISO yet, and if some enterprising ME student wants the equations to set up a spread sheet, I will be happy to supply them.

similar data here http://www.portlandbolt.com/technica...que-chart.html

also here....not so much clamping forces, but great printouts for ID'ing fasteners, suggested torque specs for metric and US, and other general info for the common gearhead
