Default Rear Brake Wear more then front

My Pads at VIR trend to wear more in the rear then the front .... Anyone know why this would be? It seems the fronts would take the brunt of the wear.

Seems likely. They like to apply rear brake... a lot.

That's what people say, but I can tell you there's a bump in the road on an uphill section where I'm accelerating on the way to work. There're some lateral Gs being pulled there. With everything on the car *always* flashes Active Handling at me there. With everything off and accelerating the same or harder on that piece of road I have never once had to make a steering correction...

ah/tc will burn up rear brakes...... and slow you down.... and give you false security....

.......... But can save your **** if you drive like most people

I've been running in comp mode and have gone through 3 front sets : 1 rear set of pads.

from talking with C6 folks who track their cars it seems that C6 version of AH is a little less intrusive.

my rear pad and rotor wear went down by ~50% since I stopped using comp mode. turned it back on this spring when i got to infineon for the first time and was a little freaked out by the track... went from 30%-40% pad to 0% in less than a day... just another reminder why I don't use it anymore.

ah/tc is constantly applying rear brakes to keep control of the car. That is the cause of the rear wear issue. Comp mode should lessen the wear, but it will still be more then if you run without it. As David said though, you are on your own if you turn it off. Up to you to decide if you can handle car without it or are willing to live with brake wear.

FWIW, my Z06 uses a lot more rear brake pad than my vert did. Exact same suspension, no nannies, both cars corner balanced and track aligned.

Try competitive mode and work on getting smoother. AH will significantly increase pad wear (but it also will save your @ss).

If you are novice/intermediate, you may be better of using AH and just focusing on seeing when it comes on and find out what you did to make it come on and use it as a tool to become smoother. Every time it comes on, try to understand what you did, that made it engage then try to be smoother the next time around.

I can drive my C6Z almost at the limit and rarely ever see AH (comp mode) come on as long as I am smooth as silk. AH will reward drivers who are extremely smooth, but still allow you to use it as an (oh sh%t tool)
