how many days on R comps?
How many 20-30 min sessions are you guys getting from your R6/A6 or Kumho V710. I have ran the R6's and got 6 days and they were shot. Normal life? Any better life from the Kumhos? I have been running the nitto nt01's but thinking of going back to the dark side The hoosiers grip is awesome on the first couple sessions then drop off fairly quick beyond that. At the end they were no better than the nittos. Anyone else experience this?

- May not be as fast anymore, but I will take that as ego boost when I get new ones

I get about 16-18 track sessions on the A6's. The grip does drop off some, but even with numerous heat cycles the first 2 laps can be quick. I broke the NASA TT class record this last weekend with tires that were almost to the cords. After 2 laps you do start slipping and sliding but for time trials, there's nothing like 'em. I would run r6's or V710's for normal track days for longer life.

Damn, you guys are lucky. With my 2 co-drivers, we get 3 days of racing on a set of A6's. 36 miles. (They work for maybe 2 more days as scrubs after that, but definitely not competitive).

I have gotten a season's worth (8+ days). Fronts go first, but I have had rears almost last 1.5 seasons, but they are shot as far as grip. The 710s lasted longer.
Sounds like you need more camber. I run -3.0 and they love it.

You're doing it wrong. My a6's are going to last us all year, running with a co-driver. I've done all the Philly region events, 2 NNJR autocrosses on the road course, and two Prosolo events.
We just flipped them after Toledo because thy were close to the cords on the outside.

I am willing to spend the money to always be on good tires.
We just bought sets number 5 and 6 on the season to take to Lincoln next week. $1,800/set.

We've run over 20 weekends so far this year. Naturally, we run non-points stuff and scrape by with crappy tires. I could easily be on our 8th set, but it's not worth the cash for the "fun" events. Even still, the 3 of us are usually at/near FTD.
Oh yeah, I think we'll need a 7th set to finish off the calendar year. We're going to do the 50th Bay Bottom Crawl down in the Florida Keys in October. On the upside, we should all see speeds in excess of 140 MPH at the finish line. Not bad for Autocross.

I ran my last set of R6s for 7 days (23 sessions).
I run HPDEs and run them at the higher pressures recommended on the Hoosier site. Of course they were probably heat-cycled out after 15 sessions, but they still looked good and gripped pretty well so I kept running them. After the NCM event at VIR the end of June I was going to flip them and try to get a few more sessions out of them, but after the last session at VIR I noticed one of the front ones was corded - on the INSIDE!! I run about -2.7 degrees camber up front, and they seem to like that - wear was perfectly even across the entire tread until I noticed that little bit of cord just starting to show on the inside shoulder.
The competitive w2w racers run very low pressures and don't get anywhere near that kind of life out of them.
YMMV!
BTW, I got some new ones for the NJMP event in July and ran 4 sessions on them. I ran lower pressures recommended by a lot of forum members. I had been trying to get around 40-43 psi hot, but lowered starting pressures to get around 37-38 hot. I got a lot of wear on the outside shoulder, so I'll be going back to the higher pressures recommended by Hoosier. If I were racing maybe I'd try the 20 (or less) pressures some are running, but I'll stick with the higher pressures for length of life.

We did Dixie with a new set for both days. We're at least doing Nationals with 2 sets. We will scrub each set, 1 per practice day and run 1 set/day each over the 2-day event. Running stickers on race day is a little silly. It takes several runs before they "come in".

They'll still work great for track day/test tires, lots of meat left, but they are nowhere as quick on the clock as stickers. In my experience, the A's slow down after 2-3 heat cycles. But I can take my TT scuffs and go run all weekend at an HPDE or test day till they cord.
I have not tried the R6's yet, but Jason I. seems to be able to knock down his same laps after a slew of sessions, so they seem to hold up longer, if not as quick out of the box as the A.

Melting Slicks
I probably ran over 10 track days on my 1st set of R6's and I had my fastest laps on my last day with them. But I wanted to try some dunlop scrubs to see if they were faster. Turned out I didn't have enough camber for those and ended up cording them all in 2 days... I'm on my 2nd set of R6's now . I am really surprised to hear how long some of you are getting the A6's to last. I think those would be a great tire in the Fall/Winter out here in the west as long as its not raining.

Wow... I would be extremely happy to get 10-12 events out of a set of dot slicks. I got 6 days out of the R6's and both fronts were corded. I was only running -1.2 camber at that time so that may have played a big part. I'm now at -2.5 so hopefully the wear rate decreases. How did you like the V710 grip? Will they hang with the R6? I've heard the v710 is slightly faster. Im thinking of trying them based on your experience.
