Autocrossing the 02 Z06 Sunday, its hot, 102. First run hit the brakes, front locks up? does this the whole run. Second run same thing...dash lights up like a christmas tree, ABS light, "Service Traction Control Now"
I run with traction control off????

Park the car, I'am done. 4 hours later get into the car all cleared up, drive home is normal, did a mild canyon run home all felt fine.

What gives? Heat in the control module? this would be very bad on the track!!!!!

First place I'd look is the ABS sensors on the bearing hubs.

When mine did that I looked at everything it didn't go away until I replaced the hubs. On a side note I TTed half the season with that issue

You have no idea, the next event after Nationals in 2007 I almost got turned away from a NCCC event at Gingerman because of hubs and tie rod ends, I had to put the e-brake on to limit the movement. By my last run it was making so much noise I decided myself not to run Grattan the next day. Not really the smartest idea ever, but I need to save my $$ for tires.

Mine did that a few years ago. When I got home and unloaded the car, all of the DIC messages had cleared. Took it out for a spirited run on the back roads and they all came back when I launched it with the TC turned on.

Took it into the dealer and it was the ABS controller (~$900). They said it could either be that or the module (also ~$900) or both. Luckily, mine was just the controller.

What's the name and contact info for that fellow on the Net that repairs Vette ABS Controllers/Modules?

Is this intermittent condition the beginning of the end of your controller or modules?

I'd say 95% of the time it's the wheel-speed-sensors in the bearings. Even if it never happens on the street, the bearing is always my top choice source for the problem.

That's the guy. If you need a replacement module, then he will be able to save you several hundred dollars.

I went through hell fixing my '99's ebtcm a couple years ago and ended up purchasing a new one which at the time was reasonably priced. Now a new unit is crazy expensive. I first tried abs fixer. He was a super nice guy and told me up front he generally cannot repair the older units, but he did try and didn't charge me since it did not work. My question is does anyone know why the older units, like my '99, cannot be repaired? At least not by a stand up company like abs fixer. There are some other companies that say they repair them, but I had to open up a dispute with my credit card company over the one I chose cause they were complete losers. It was almost a one year battle, but I did win. I would highly recommend absfixer, but stand clear of all other companies.
