Default TeamTech Harnesses (SFI vs FIA)

Wow, so, I love my JetPilot harnesses... but I just went to get one re-certified since it's an SFI (2 yr) versus FIA (5 yr, IIRC)... to re-cert the JetPilot is $298.14. To buy a brand new Schroth 6-pt is $310 and it won't expire in 2 years.

Something to think about when shopping for harnesses if you are running with clubs that care about them "expiring."

Which club if you don't mind? Don't most clubs also let you run with stock belts? I think it is silly that they won't let you run with 2 year old teamtechs. Even at that age they are probably still better than 99% of the harnesses out there.

Sorry, I needed to freshen the belts for my wheel-to-wheel build...

Okay, I screwed up. Curt@TeamTech was quoting to re-web both of my JetPilot harnesses. So it's $298 to do both, or $149 each, which is entirely reasonable to me.

It has to do with the material they are made from and how much sun exposure they receive. A nylon SFI harness will lose over 60% of its strength when exposed to the sun over a two year period. It may look fine but it isn't.

The FIA rated belts are usually made from Polyester and will last 5 years in the sun without losing as much of their strength as the nylons do in 2 years.

Our local Porsche club checks dates on harnesses, none of the others check
