Default Need advice - emergency "tow hook"

I won't have time to install my front and rear tow hooks prior to my visit to the track tomorrow. What can I use as a last resort if I go off the track and have to pulled out a gravel trap, etc.? Would the rear sway bar work? what else?

they can run the tow strap around the rear subframe. Definitely do not use the rear swaybar.

Wrap it around any control arm.

Don't go off.

Anyone ever try a "T" or "J" tie-down hook on the end of the strap, hooked into the side rail tie-down slot (F or R as appropriate) and run under the car to F or R?)

if you are in the gravel, they won't be able to access the frame hooks. If you go into gravel/sand without a toe hook, you will most certainly have a damaged bumper by the time they get through with you (if you are lucky)

You will be under the gun if you are stuck in the pee gravel. Just wrap it around anywhere around the control arm. Up by the subframe will be better. Don't worry about it too much until it happens, because hopefully you will not be in the crap.

Guys,

Could we not have novices installing straps near rotating parts?

The best solution is to just stay on track, now if I would just learn to do that myself....

Depends on how stuck I guess. The control arm is much stronger then a rear tow hook held in by two 6mm exhaust hanger bolts.
