Default Monticello Full Course w/ PDA on 18th

Getting exicited about my first time at this new course. Any advice or things to watch out for?

Who else is coming?

While not instructing at this event, I have a fellow HPDE driver coming that would like a ride. From what I remember PDA doesn't have an issue with passenger in the advance group, but does the track have any issue with this? I know Lime Rock has a no passenger policy, but haven't heard any restrictions on this course.

Can't wait to see the PDA crew again, it has been a year or so...keep an eye out for the yellow C6Z with Phoenix sticker on the back.

We'll be there on the 18th. Its been a sparse year for HPDE for me so far, however I did get to Monticello earlier in the year for one 1/2 session before the rain started.

The track is so long it definitely wasn't enough for me to give any credible advice, except that you should watch a lot of You Tube videos. Its hard to concentrate on learning the whole thing its so long!

Nice facility, and its good to see they are opening it up to the car groups. I guess the $150K membership pool dried up this year.

Yes, I'll be there, too (as Run4Cvr said).

I did a full day there on the South course, so I know that part pretty well, but had to slow it down a bit on the North end. I only did 1 session on the full, and then it rained; But it's alot of fun. Best part (for us, at least) is that it is only 1 hour away.

As far as I know, they don't have any passenger issue policy. When I was there on the South course, I had a friend in my car all day long, and no one said anything.

I'm supposed to do the full course in October on my motorcycle, so hopefully I'll learn a bit more about the North end this time so I don't hurt myself on the two-wheeler.

Hopefully the 2 day price structure for a one day event does the same by next year.

weather dot com is only forecasting a 10% chance of rain for tomorrow... I can live with that.

If you see a slow sliver c5z #26 come say HI.

Nice to see you Scott! My head is still spinning from all the turns. I literally got lightheaded in the right/left/right turns at the end of the back strait. It is a nice facility. Unfortunately it was overcrowded with PDA as usual and that made for many gravy trains and hard to get a clean lap. I was not pulling more HP than the other C6Z vette's, but was able to carry a bit more momentum in the corners which translated to higher speeds at the end of the straits. There are a few places I lifted due to unfamiliarity, but another 2-3 days, and I would hold her down. Next time I need to grap the transponder. Not sure if sub 30's are realistic, but I can easily see another 5 seconds after a couple more days.

I guess this gives me a good reason to have to come back!!!

Great to see everyone including John and Edith!!! It's has been too long.

Great day at the track seeing people I have not seen in a couple of years Tons of turns from what I could see from the sidelines. Quite a few accidents unfornunately with all the tight turns.

I timed Matt a few times and he was in the low 2:43-2:40 which was great time in a stock HP Z for. It was Matts first time on a complicated track the first day. Seems like a lot to remember with all the corners. Few days and Matt will be in the 2:30's. The other 600+ rwhp Z's were only a few (3) seconds faster. Down the etraights the 600+ rwhp Z's really pulled like a freight train so they made a ton of time there. Can't wait to play next year lot's of C6Z's some with mods vs when I was last out at the track.

Matt's car looked real good on the corner I was watching from with the LG coil-overs. Smooth way less roll than a stock C6Z's I saw. Even better than brand X coil-over cars with big HP. Nice driving Matt and consistent when traffic allowed. The big HP cars were consistant also when traffic allowed.

Matt if you had 600+ RWHP you would have been the fastest car by far at the track from what I saw. There were few Vipers and C6Z's looked like ants on track I was shcked how many there were.

Plenty of armco to hit at this track if you go off especially if grass was damp.

PDA did not know the Porshe club was running at the same day as PDA. I guess the economy took it's toll and the track is hurting and needs money, Pit area was small for a big club turn out. I got home a lot easier than the trip their I printed out mapcrap and the directions were very hard to understand. Funny thing is when I reversed them on mapquest and printed them I didn't realize they were different direction for the trip home until we left

Plus the in car GPS whet screwy also and stopped working correctly. Traffic was suprisingly light going home.

Who did the flagging at the event? The corner I was at seemed to need a flagger station. Those who were on track would know better it may have semed that way from the sidelines.

"Car 54 where are you?" ask for his times and I told him the battery went dead in the stop watch waiting for him to come around

Great day, decent weather, and I don't think anyone seriously hurt except for there pocketbook. Just great seeing everyone.

good I can see the track at speed, 2:25 would be real fast to see I think Matt is posting some too if he has time. Fasted laps I timed were 2:37 but I can't get them all. I try to time when people are not in a train.

I need t get the I-Pod phone track program.

here's a vid of my car on the full course:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6VuD8hj2uUc

My best is 2:41 with r888's and 311 rwhp at 3450 lbs with DRM coilovers and T1 sways. I think the run above was 2:43 with lots of understeer; front tire was corded on inside after the session and was pushing a lot. Going back soon with poly front bushings and new front r888's and a little less camber (-1.8) hoping for 2:40
