Autocrossed the T1 Car today (In-car Video)
The new Vettesports.com club hosted a High speed autocross today, (cough, cough) I mean low speed. NORA SCCA club president Eric Heller and friends were nice enough to lend the timing and cones till the new club gets all their equipment. Hats off to Tim Obert (Vettesports president) for designing an awesome, fast & safe course for all of us to enjoy.
This was at the old Lorain, Ohio Ford assembly plant with a 1.0 mile long course. As you can see speeds got pretty good for this event, I even got to third for a minute. This is got to be the best local place for us to run as all the other courses are 30 seconds and your stuck in 1st gear on a Go-kart type track.
Good stuff and met a lot of SCCA autocrossers for the 1st time. Here is a in-car video to see the course in 49.6 seconds
Enjoy!

My first drive in my T1 car was at an autocross event. I just wanted to drive it before going to novice school and I got the car about 10 days before the school. Could not find a track day anywhere that weekend. Unfortunately the San Diego venue has a sound limit of 93dBA at 50 feet, so I had to soft pedal the car everywhere as it has no cats or mufflers and 3" pipes. At least I got to know the T1 car handled FAR better than my Super Stock classed Z06 which won the region in 2004.
Nice run, Aaron. And great job getting FTD.
I think that course was shorter than a mile. If it were, that means you averaged 72.6 mph.

Thanks Tim,
Straight from the pres, there ya go Steve about 8 tenths. So what would an average speed be on that distance.
I wouldn't put it past Tim to get more length at the next event there in 2 weeks.
Awesome facility!

That is a pretty fast auto-x course!
I remember running a 1 mi + course (1.2 mi, I think) where FTD was in the low 90 seconds by a B Mod car! I think I was about 102 seconds in my F Stock SVT Mustang.

I wouldn't really call that an AX course but it looks like a ton of fun. Unfortunately most clubs make these tight *** 30 second courses for Miatas... Having a big site like that where you can really open up the course would be nice.

Bone stock GM crate motor minus cats, minus mufflers and 3" pipe after cat back with a computer tune and rev limiter bumped to 6,900 RPM.
We can't do much of anything in T1 to these motors except balance and blue print. I tried that once and it lasted 2 races, I could have bought another back up motor for what I paid to have that done. I learned the only way to go for reliability and my budget is a stock untouched crate, throw it in and go.
There is no interior in the car now so it is pretty noisy and sounds meaner than it actualy is if you know what I mean.

Found out about this event on Saturday and thought about coming down, sounds like maybe I should have but the car wasn't loaded and I was working on the tow vehicle. Maybe the 27th. How many runs did you wind up with? I know the website said six or more ITA.

Cool! Good job on FTD Aaron.
Tim, that looked like a fast fun course. i have to get my oil situation under control so I can do some of these!
