Default How old is too old?

I am looking at picking up some "one 20 minute session" used 710's. The manufacture date is 3705 which make them four years old. Do you think they're still good? The price is $375 for (3) 285x30/18.

If you are looking to be competitive (racing, auto-x, etc) with them, then they are too old. But if you just want some used tires to do HPDEs, then you're probably OK. I wouldn't pay that much for them though.

I think the tires are still good but the price is too high, especially for an oddball set of (3). Unless they are local, shipping is probably around $35 a tire or thereabouts. $75 is about right; you can pick up fresher, faster Pirelli slicks for $100. As for the age, I have been running on old tires for years but I chemically treat mine with Formula V to freshen them up a bit.

with Chris, If you are just tracking/HPDE and not serious then go for it. But 3 at that price and age is a little high. I normally sell my fresh to date take offs (4) for $300-$350 plus shipping and they only have a couple heat cyles on them.

They will be used for HPDE. I'm not racing. Keeping in mind the age and one session used, what do you think is a fair price?

I would offer him $175.00 plus the shipping. shipping should be roughly $25 a tire so you would have $250 give or take total. Just my opinion though!

Yep, those figures are about right to me. You can pick up used tires for about $50 each now without trying hard.

i did an entire season as a intermediate in HPDE with 01 tires. THey sucked but! but they did teach me an awful alot about understeer and oversteer :-) If you are on teh tail end of intemediate to begining advanced dirving.. they are going to slow you down so much its not worth wasting your track fees.
