Default Goodyear or Pirreli slicks?

i have a chance to buy some slicks... the pirreli slicks are from this april and have been used once at the track, so lots of life left on them.
the goodyears are brand new but after a couple yrs old (will verify tonight).

both are the same price... i only road race 2x per yr so these should last just fine for the remainder of this season.

which tire is better for the road racing? which is stickier and will not get greasy after a couple laps?

any thoughts or comments, i would really appreciate it!

The pirreli's have already been cycled once so they should be in their prime. Then again the Goodyears are new and 2 years out is nothing to worry about. If they are really a good deal, heck buy both sets!

So what sizes are you running in the NON DOT slicks?

What tire is stickier will depend on the compound. Ideally you would like the right compound for the weather and track. I would go with the Pirelli's without any further information.

Which Goodyear G19 compound are they?

350, 375, 500, 550 or ?

anything in the 300s is a one time use. I corded a set of 375s in two sessions at Road Atlanta. But man were those fastest sessions I ever drove there

The goodyear web site only lists compounds in the 200s,300s, and 400s. The only 18" sizes are like a 250 or 370 compound. Do they have harder compounds?

Buy both sets, slicks are like heroin; once you tried them you get hooked very quickly. Don't forget to maximize your camber. By the way, if you pass on the Goodyears, please PM me, I wouldn't mind to stockpile another set.

I have 4 rear GY G19s. 18x28x12.5 each. 1 is R480 and 3 are R375 compounds

$25 each plus shipping

One heat each, if that.

Tom,
How the heck do you fit that 28" tall rear under your C5 car?

Are you tubbed or have flares?

Too much tire for me to fit, looking for the 18 x 25.5's. That is a really good deal!

They might, but I dont have any front tires to match and why I am selling them

yes my rear fenders are flaired 3/4 inch and I no longer have inner liner to the wheel wells. wonder how that happened ?

Now I have see the 28" tires under the C6Z with out problems

a few years ago when Grand Am DPs were at VIR and ON GY G19s. I asked the GY ppl what they do with the scrubs?

He said you got a pick up?

I bought 4 rear 28' tires and 8 front 18x25.5x11.5 twelve G19s with one heat cycle or less. Some were mounted then unmounted and never hit the pavement. 12 G19s for $250 they were $450 each new then.

Some of my best laps at VIR and Road Atlanta were on the G19s

When you go watch Grand AM races, dont take the vette. Take the big PICK UP and a roll of cash. Never know what deals one can find.

I like the GY G19s quite a bit. But new they are expensive.

many ppl love the Pirrelli scubbs too, but do need a lap or three to get heat into them.
