issues with pulling the air from the radiator area?
thinking about switching from stock intake to get the air from just below it - cutting the hole in the shroud and rotating the bottom of the intake to hold the filter against the hole.
i have no other options to get cooler air - lic plate opening is already taken by the oil cooler and fog light openings are blocked by the cooler plumbing.
do you think this will reduce intake air temps? any issues with the air flow to MAF with this setup (turbulence?)
this is on a C5

this works fine, I've done it many times. If you track the car, remember you will be stealing air from your radiator, and may be better off NOT doing it.
The only real issue is to make sure you seal the airbox/shroud so that you limit loss of pressurized air.

The AIM data acq system I have on my C6Z records the intake air temp. If I sit and idle for a while, it will read 150F or so, but as soon as I drive it will go to the ambient air temp in less than a minute, so it is pulling outside air from somewhere.
