and end of this thread for those with zero common sense, not the part where people got injured or went off track or blow up motors but the finger pointing

Call me but maybe the driver plays a role in how fast a car is

We know that isn't what you meant Ken nobody wants to see anything happen to a fellow racer.
But there is a ton of talk about the crazy fast Ferrari in T1.
I keep an eye on T1 times and have to say I have never seen the times drop as they have this year. For the past couple of years the fastest T1 cars were running 2.24.xx and Buttermore really suprised me three weeks ago with a 2.23.18.
Now we see the Ferrari go 2.21.7 and some of the Vipers are in the 2.22.7. I have a hard time seeing how a C5 can get down to a time like that.
Considering that this is the benchmark that I set our TTS/ST2 cars to I really have a hard time figuring how a C5 T1 car can get close to these times.
Should be intersting for the next two days what these guys can put down for times in the next two days. The forcast looks good for today and tommorow. But I think it will be raining for the race so that will add even more drama to this whole soap opera. Still rooting for all of the Vette guys especially Onks and Buttermore, so we will see. When the rain hits it's all about the driver.

Another good reason to avoid classes with "performance equalizations." It always seems to descend into whining, sandbagging, and hostilities.
I am very thankful for classes where everyone runs the same engine.

why one year in T1 was enough for me.........one lone Porsche shows up and is seconds faster than anybody else. The rules are made up nearly a year ahead of the Runoffs, so all you can do is race for the fastest of your Marque.
World Challenge/ALMS obviously have to adjust cars, but they have full time, at least semi-trained, technical staffs that make corrections on the fly.
NASA style rules are the way to go for club racing, ie FUN racing

These guys are serious about their racing, and I always had more fun with NASA.

Why would he do all this:
Six months to plan and test., I agree to do the lap sometime during that time.
Unlimited private test days
Any data system(s) I request,
Factory trained engineering driver who reports to me.
Shock engineer
My choice of race engineer
30 crew people and fully equipped race shop
Dedicated engine builder with dyno and 10 engines
Unlimted tires
To win that. It doesn't make sense to me. I mean it's a lot of money for a race that isn't huge.

Money wins championshiops. Sure, there are the grassroots guys that can run on a "budget" and be competitive, but money provides the edge that talent can't overcome. This is not news.
All of these (us?) guys are amazing drivers, T1, ST2, whatever. The difference is in the time spent on prep, which basically equals money.
There will always be excuses by the losers. For T1 this year it will be the 6 months of high dollar testing in the Ferrarri. For NASA it will be new A6's vs scrub tires.
If you're posting on an internet forum, at the very best, you're competing for limited sponsorship and contingency dollars to help fund your racing. The top guys get some factory cars and parts thrown at them, or have a friend with big pockets. Lucky and good. Tough combo.
With the exception of our vendors who sell products based on race development, the bottom line is that nobody wins anything other than a trophy and some bragging rights. Nobody knows any of our names outside of this very small circle of friends. So the very people to whom you want to brag are the same people to whom you were giving excuses for why you lost only days before.
The people that would have congratulated you when you won aren't around because you pissed them off with excuses and complaining about unfair advantages before the race even started.
