Default What camera?

Need a recommendation on a camera for the track. Nothing fancy but something I can stick on the dash or windshield and easily remove to download.

Thanks

I got this

http://www.goprocamera.com/index.php?area=2&productid=2

It's cheap and designed to do exactly what you want.

Where did you buy yours? Looking for the best deal. Have seen them on the auction site for less than the direct price.

Thanks

I hate hate hate the GoPro. Terrible sound quality and only slightly better video quality. There are better choices.

It worked ok until i started loading memory, then it went crazy. Now it's a scrambled screen.

Ouch that sucks. I had to send mine back too actually, but because I dropped in on the concrete.

I use the single suction mount and additional articulating knuckle from chasecam.com

I just got a camera and used it for the first time this weekend and love it... a Canon FS10. Since all I will be using it for is the track, I went with a cheaper, re-manufactured one from ebay. In the end it was the same cost as the low end ones with the Canon quality.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that as far as cameras go, it is relatively small, although it is probably too big for a suction mount.

Main important consideration- EIS vs. OIS

EIS (electronic image stabilization ...i think) vs. Optical image stabilization.

I bought a panasonic 120 miniDV with EIS a few years back and it has worked great! no jitters, just good sharp image and sound. I especially like the extended mic cord with on/off switch so I can turn the camera on while leaving pit out....I bought the EIS type after reading about OIS can't take too much vibration.

However, I decided to try HD and they all seem to use OIS. What the heck, I thought I would give it a try so I bought a canon. Sure enough, video ain't wuff a toot....... So much vibration it is unwatchable.

Anyone else want to jump in on this issue?

Film canisters only last 3 mins so use your record button only during the good action

Why don't you just use a digital camera in video mode? Not fancy, easy to remove and and easy to mount.

I heard the same thing about OIS (never tried myself). The Canon FS10 that I mentioned has EIS. My car is extremely rough and has as much vibration as I can imagine any car having on the track and the picture came out looking amazing.

I tried using my Panasonic with OIS, same problem. It can't handle the vibrations. Not to steal the thread but I'm thinking of going to the contour HD. Any feedback on it?

I use an Aiptek Action HD it was $150 at walmart.

Linkage

and this mount:
http://www.filmtools.com/gripper-302...era-mount.html

this is one of the best mounts i've used. It's ROCK steady (the sound is out of sync on youtube, but it's fine on the camera):

and higher quality:
