Which Tire & Wheel Setup?
For AUTOCROSS....
I have two sets of wheels for my C5 Coupe and am getting ready to buy new Hoosier A6 tires...
I have four OEM '96 rear Grand Sport wheels 17x11. They will fit 335/35/17 tires, however I do not know if I can make 335's work on the front. I am flaring all the fenders, but I don't know about inside rubbing when I turn.
I also have four OEM C5 Z06 Speedlines 18x10.5. They will fit 315's.
The 18" Speedlines are lighter than the OEM Grand Sports, so if I go with 315's, they will definitely be on the Z06 wheels.
335 with Grand Sport = 53 lbs.
315 with Speedlines = 48 lbs.
Here are my options...
1) 315's all the way around (good for rotation of tires).
2) 335's in the rear and 315's in the front (more tread width in the rear, but also 5 extra pounds per rear corner and no rotation of tires).
3) 335's all the way around (may or may not work in the front - anyone? Tire rotation available again. 5 extra pounds per corner).
So, any opinions?

Am I better off with an extra inch of tread, but an extra 5 pounds per corner? Or is the advantage with the lighter weight even though I will lose an inch of tread?

I'd go 315x18 in front and 335x18 Rear
I can hook you up with hoosiers. Especially on the west coast.
5lbs is a lot but not really to a car. The extra grip wins in auto cross.

I just ran my first event on 18's all around, with 305/30 and 315/35 tires. I thought the car worked well, minus the very tired 315's in the rear. I would recommend the factory z06 rims for a lower cost option for the 18" option.
I have had 335/35/17's on the rear of my car in the past, and they rubbed the inner fender liner on large bumps. Not sure with the factory z06 rim how the 335's would work both from an offset standpoint and being only 10.5" wide. I am sure someone here does it.
