Default What's a good (budget) 24" jackstand?

The 2 sets I have go to maybe 18" and it's a LOT easier to do most work if you get the car higher.

Any of you guys come across some good ones?

I have built wood platforms under the shorties, but I think it's safer to have just the jackstand.

I have a set of Sears 3000lb each that I use when I really want to get the car up high. It's also nice to have a matching set when you are trying to get the car level.

put good quality jackstands on 2 x 12's to get the height. Do not buy budget jackstands, crash helmets, parachutes or rock climbing gear. I know of a 6 ton Sears jackstand that failed with a car on top. Now, I only lie beneath over-built devices- no harbor freight or chinese crimped stands. Probably more folks die from equiptment crushing them than roadracing. Sorry for being so intense , but I have been around too many farming/heavy equiptment accidents with guys getting crushed ,that were preventable. I use these stands http://www.grayusa.com/support_stand.asp#7-T%20(pair) , the 7-T ..I saw Griots garage has a knockoff of them now.

I always back up the jack stand by leaving the floor jack under the lifting point.

Gotta swing a 30" breaker bar to get caliper brackets off.

I hate it when the breaker bar hits the garage floor.

The higher the better.

Get some 12ton from harbor freight, I used them to work on our lifted trucks.
